Anyone know what program he uses? And something to record sounds?
Dude. Thank you. I had no idea this existed
Step 1: Copy style and mood from The Postal Service.
Step 2: Don’t do anything original.
Calling anything from Owl City a “song” is being generous.
Anyone know what song this is he’s working on?
Honestly I’d rather see him recording those different unusual samples and how many takes it took to get the sound he was looking for. This is just kind of a studio software demonstration.
Interesting that he made a YouTube channel just for this and then nothing else
Absolute witchcraft.
I don’t know why, but the Ten Million Fireflies guy owning a shotgun was surprising to me.
Is Logic the best option for starting to get into this sort of thing? I don’t have a Mac, but could get one if it’s worth it.
postal service is better
Placing things on a grid – having that kind of control – is this why so much music these days has the same kind of indefinable superficial sparkle or am I just bitter and old?
The overly high passed samples are like someone rubbing a bunch of crunchy leaves on my ears, it’s not a pleasant sound at all.
Thanks for posting this – I found it interesting.
It’s amusing to me that there are desktop commandos in this thread basically yelling “he is creating wrong!”
been a HUGE Adam Young fan since the Myspace days. I was even in his “fan club” and put him in my top 8. One of the highlights of my life was completing a 4 week cross-country roadtrip after graduating high school and seeing him live at the end. Now you can find his music everywhere, even in the Disneyland Paint the Night Parade.
I love videos like this, it really shows how insanely intricate each bit is.
One of fav breakdown’s is [Jim Pavloff recreating Prodigy’s Smack My Bitch Up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eU5Dn-WaElI), like how tf did they even come up with this stuff using all these sounds and samples. So many drugs…
