Find yourself someone who looks at you like that, eh?
Carmen Jones …… great score
She was so gorgeous.
Wouldn’t we all? That is such a great film.

Oh me oh my
my nana once met harry belafonte at a club in the early 50s and had the same thought. half a century later my great nan still vocally lamented the fact her daughter thought a “c*lored man” was handsome. rest in piss great nan

Good lord, she’s beautiful!
Classic beauty
What a beautiful picture
What a great picture! And yeah, she was gorgeous
Oof they would have been like the hottest couple
Didn’t all the ladies feel that way back then?
Better not look at me like that unless you plan on doing it for the next 50 years of our lives.
Damn she’s fine!
wow what a smile
She r/mirin’ hard
I wish she had had a happier life.
Timeless beauty
I’m just now realizing I’ve never seen a Dorothy Dandridge movie. I should remedy that.
That would have been a beautiful couple

Too bad allegedly he didn’t date black women they would of made a beautiful couple
I’ve had a one women that attractive look at me like that, shit is something you get seared in your brain if you’re not used to it. That little arm tuck and the look up at you, now I spend my days trying to work on myself to get back to a moment like that. The one that is most seared in my brain with that girl is her standing in her doorway leaning up against it with both hands on it staring at me with those exact eyes and that same smile..Jesus Christ I need a break.
I don’t know anything about their relationship, but damn they would have had beautiful talented children.
She had a sad life.
Now that is a lucky fella right there
If you’ve never seen the film “Carmen Jones” get yourself to your favorite streaming service and give it a watch. It’s available on multiple platforms for rental.
It’s the opera “Carmen” but with lyrics that set it in WWII America. It’s absolutely amazing and a fantastic demonstration of both their vocal talents.
We all would’ve!
Her face is so darling.
OMG! I love her! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)
If I’m not mistaken he was married to Marguerite Byrd, a model and actress, when this picture was taken.
Classy stunner.
I’d have been happy being Mr. Dorothy Dandridge
Just….so….breathtaking
Out of respect of her memory , I read she was over watched by the fbi then found to have overdosed by prescription medication. I can’t find much more detail looking into it if anyone can educate me more on why the fib was having her in question and surveillance as much as she was?
“Between 1947 and 1958, the FBI monitored her professional affiliations and activities. She was questioned by the agency about her interactions with the NAACP and groups such as the Progressive Citizens of America. Red Scare-era newspaper stories about her political activities restricted her acting career.”
I understand but at the same time why did they suppress her success so much compared to other black artists at the time ?
Again I can’t find that she did anything wrong or more outspoken during those times than others , then she was found dead shortly after fbi got involved in her personal life and career
Harry was also extremely prejudice to black women being quoted as saying he would never marry one as what could they do for his career.
Millions of women wanted to be Mrs. Belafonte.
These pretzels are making me thirsty
I dare say a lot of women, of all races, around the world, would have been happy to be Mrs Harry Belafonte in that era. And probably even more were happy to fantasize about it.
An extraordinarily good looking pair of human beings. Not to mention *really* talented.
That’s one of the most ‘in love’ faces I’ve ever seen in my life.
You and me both Dorothy
I also would have been happy to have been Mrs. Harry Belafonte.
Get you girl who looks at you like this or get used to not knowing what love is.
In my wildest dreams I can’t imagine ever being that gorgeous.
Harry Belafonte – Naval Vet during WW2, he cannonballed into every social justice movement, protesting against apartheid, pushing for LGBTQ+ equality and condemning the military industrial complex. A TRUE American Hero. Also his kids lived up to his success being stars in their own endeavors. 🫡
