I was at a friend’s house tonight, never been before. Playing split screen when the low battery notification pops up for my controller.
He IMMEDIATELY pauses the game and gets up to get a charger. It was inevitable but I was struck how he didn’t wait it out even until the end of the match (CoD bots offline).
This happens with my headset. I have Razer Threshers and the thing will start to beep loudly every 30 seconds for the next 3 to 4 hours. I really wish it would just die on me instead of doing that, but charging also solves that, so what can you do…
I do it so I don’t have to change the batteries as often. When the warnings start, there’s still at least a day’s worth of play in them, and batteries are expensive.
As someone who plays soulslikes almost exclusively, this problem is so real. There’s nothing quite like watching the boss you were finally about to beat just lay into you unhindered while you frantically try to swap out controllers.
That’s why I went all in on rechargeable batteries after buying an Xbox. Stupid controllers with built-in LiPo batteries are always draining themselves and when you want to pick one up it’s always empty.
With rechargeable batteries I always have replenished batteries and I can swap when I want in a matter of seconds.
Don’t have to find a cord and use that or switch controllers just to find that it’s also dead.
Whenever I have friends over I have to charge the controller for the switch, and I even ended up buying a charging accessory so that I could charge more of them.
God Nintendo knows how to suck money out of you. And when I travel the controllers can’t be turned off either, so by the time I get somewhere they’ll be all out…
We are legitimately spoiled by 40-hour battery lives on controllers nowadays.
I remember we’d get like maybe 3 hours tops out of a game gear so every road trip it was just assumed we were going to be bringing about like 24 rechargeable AA batteries. Now it’s like oh what have to get up and plug this thing into the wall over there like what the hell.
I miss how the Xbox 360 controller would keep reminding you. Like invariably now the console reminds me but it’s during a time I can’t switch batteries or plug it in (online game or something), then I forget it told me, then it dies.
Anything battery powered (controllers, portable consoles, laptops, etc) needs to start playing the drowning music from the older Sonic games as the battery approaches critical lows. One or two times of that anxiety-inducing panic tune and no battery will ever hit 0% again.
My laptop: Yo I am at 10%.
Me: Sorry, I accidentally dropped the cord off the table while booting you from sleep let me pick that up real quick fam.
My laptop: *Dies 2 seconds later.*
Me: *Pikachu Face*
I paid for the damn battery so I am gonna use THE WHOLE BATTERY!
*keeps playing*
‟yeah but how low is low, really?”
5 minutes later
‟Oh”
Me every time this happens
Looks like we go some certified OC!
I checked 44453525 image posts and didn’t find a match

Tbf my rechargeable batteries (Xbox one) give me like 30 seconds of heads-up before they die, and thats it. Nothing before that.
My PS5 controllers claim that the battery is dead like 2 hours before it actually dies.
AND…in the middle of a fire fight…or 1v1 in some sort of BR
Ps5 life
Damn, this cuts deep.
how come that my xbox controller never tells me that its about to die?
Unless your Xbox just decides not to tell you. Happened to me once.
Rub the batteries against your shirt and get extra 3 minutes of play time
How could this have happened?!
R/meirl but yeah
Sees Low battery notification , think to myself I can finish the match it will be fine , A min later dead controller and dead character
And then I get irrationally pissed off because I have to get up and switch em out.
First world problems, man. Rough.
There’s no worse betrayal
Wired controller gang rise up never dealing with batteries EVER
I pretty much refuse to use wireless stuff because of this.
But then I suffer cable failure instead.

Yeah, but you can still turn it on once or twice and play for at least 5 more minutes!
That how lazy I am ;D
Why did i immediately think of the dualsense controller lol
If you’re using an Xbox controller on pc, does it tell when the battery is low?
*laughs in wired*
Wired controller gang
LMAO I’ve gotten a whole full 4 hour gaming session out of my Dualsense after I get the low battery notification.
Except when you use an Xbox controller on PC, then it just dies.

Or the xbox version…
*controller dies*…

Omg! Why did my controller die at such a dire moment without any warning!!!

Or on PS5…
Play for 1 hour: Low Battery!!
Play for 6 more hours: Controller dies in your hands
I did this with 3DS a lot when it was blinking red and lived on the edge and kept playing till the screen went black 😂
You guys got a warning?
