The result of a request posted by a user on r/estoration a couple of days ago. I took a few minor creative liberties here and there in spaces where I could not figure out the exact details of the original or in areas where I could not find a 100% replacement HQ part for it .. or in some cases where I just felt minor changes enhanced the result but did not deviate much from the original.

It’s crazy how she looks different colorized. As in, how the color adds more definition to her face, enhancing her features.
I’m realizing a lot of folks in old pics were probably way more beautiful than their pics.

Can i ask what sort of quality image is needed in order for people on that sub to do restoration? I have a couple of photos of my granny as a child but only as copies sent through WhatsApp, would they still be usable?

Did you have another color photo to reference of the subject? After all, it was only 1972.
If you hadn’t have said this was 50 years ago, I would have guessed something from the late 1930s, early 40s.
