Got my Xbox around that same time. Got Halo, new HDTV, took 2 days off work.
Amazing tech. Gaming is better now, but younger gamers will never get to experience the quantum leaps that came with these new generations of consoles. Anyway, it’s time that I got back to the nursing home…
He can’t hide his emotions.
Now if only he’d kept it in the box. Then he could purchase this pic, make it an NFT and sell it along with that PS2.
I remember getting my PS2 and getting harassed by a friend who was convinced it was gonna flop, and that Dreamcast would be king.
Simpler times…
Takes me back when in stores Circuit City was still around. That’s when I picked up the psx/ps1 and still enjoying it at that time.
Gameshark days. Haha!
Such a classic console still to this day it’s one of the best out there rest easy ps2 u will never be forgotten
where is he now ?
This picture looks so weird to me! The PS2 looks modern, but the rest of the picture looks ancient
I remember getting my PS2 for Christmas. Kessen and I want to say FFX were the games I got.
Did anyone know this was going to be the best gaming console of all time? Could anyone have predicted the sheer, runaway success of this wonderful black box?
Reminds me of when I got my first ps2 and my mom made take a picture 🤣
Remember getting this for Christmas with Road Rash 3D. I jumped from playing Road Rash on the Sega Mega Drive straight to this. Was quite the change.
Classic
I feel like Sony was peak in the PS1 and PS2 days (and maybe even the PS3 and PSP eras too)
PS2 was an amazing console with a great selection of games and it could play I think close to all of PS1’s library too and it could even play dvds and music cds too
Interesting to think. That this guy has a whole family and with kids now, and they are playing the PS5
Just to play some obscure games that the japanese, for some reason love. Like shooting at bubbles or some weird jrpg that makes no sense.
It’s not like he got it so he can play Smuggler’s Run or some FPS. Japanese have very weird gaming habits, so to say. They like different games and genres than we do. Which is fine, but I just find it of weird.
This makes me want to replay Astro’s Playroom.
Take me back.
This guy could be a grandfather by now.
Historical photo. Before Reddit purchase validation posts were a thing.
He looks like the Japanese Khaby Lame
Back when you could buy off the shelf on day 1…nowadays you can’t even pre order one because of all the bots
Hey
