Never seen that ravager variant before
Does anyone know if they ever showed Dragon Ball on Toonami? I’m known as a pretty big DBZ fan amongst my friends, but when I found out DB existed around the age of 14, they were all surprised and thought it was weird I didn’t watch it before, growing up like they did.
These always stirs up a big feeling of nostalgia for me, I remember when they advertised Cartoon Network and I begged my grandma to get it because my mom couldn’t afford cable, she hooked it up and I watched it from day 1. These adverts were my childhood just spending everyday watching CN and them going outside and pretending my friends and I were the characters as we terrorized the block.
CN just had this weird feel about it and you can see it in the advertisements, it felt so unique with the music choices and the way they made there cartoon advertisements.
Hi 👋
damn. toonami was using intelligent drum n bass for its promos in ’97.
This channel has been remastering them for years: https://www.youtube.com/c/SlimD716V2
Definitely recommend checking it out!
Whew, that Jetsons one hits kinda hard. The Jetsons was first produced in 1962, at the height of the post-war industrial boom, meaning there were regular Joes with regular jobs who could afford a stay at home wife two kids and two cars. You know, the middle class. The Jetsons was the utopian vision of what we could have been, where not only was middle class life the norm, but your work life balance is vastly improved. Labor having largely been eliminated, poverty nonexistent…eh. you get the idea. I’m just depressing myself.
Now do the best Adult Swim bumpers.
Anyone remember the Gorillaz randomly showing on Toonami?
Oh yes they got us good fresh out of school in those time slots. I remember
When I was young we didn’t have cable. In 1999 I was in 7th grade and my sister (who picked me up after school) had gotten a speeding ticket and was assigned to 40 hrs. of community service. She did it at the senior center across the street from my school and since she was my ride home, I was forced to wait around while she was working. They DID have cable and a TV room no one ever used, so I’d go in there and watch Toonami and it was the best. Those are really some of my best memories haha
Dude this was godly for a kid born in 1990
All the cool kids wanted the thundercat robot toy.
This era is burned into my mind. When CN launched my dreams came true.
I loved [TOM, the Toonami robot](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJLDK8j_HnA)
[Needs more Gundam Wing. ](https://youtu.be/90_-_XO_vdk)
This made me reminisce of the times I would stay at my grandparents house all summer and watch cartoons during school break as a kid. It’s a time period I really wish I could go back to because these days I can only cherish the memories they gave me. Thanks for the nostalgia and putting time in perspective, good times.
What’s up with the aspect ratio?
I have many, many fond memories of Toonami.
I did hate how CN had a habit of moving certain shows from AS to Toonami though.
They did that with a few shows.
I remember being specifically annoyed that they moved Yu Yu Hakusho from AS to Toonami right in the middle of the dark tournament and it was kind of jarring with the sudden edits.
So I had forgotten how I got sucked into the vortex, but I’m upvoting this even though you just sent me into the YouTube k-hole for 3 and half hours, lol.
Wait so was DBZ afrer this?
