A calendar at work

  • The joke is that all my life, I’ve been secretly enjoying my job so much that it never truly felt like work. I’m learning stuff for the job in my free time just because it’s fun. That was the same across four different roles in IT. I just love technology-related stuff too much.

Still, I am worried about people thinking that they don’t have to give me a raise or pay attention to my working conditions if I’m already happy, so I fake some mild discontent from time to time. Also, in private life, most people think they are working much harder than anyone in IT, so I would really be looked down upon if I said it doesn’t feel like work.

Putting in the occasional “Ah, Mondays suck” or “Thank god it’s Friday”, even though I don’t mean it, will help keep those raises coming.

  • I feel like hiring now is almost an insider game at any job worth having. Unless you have very special skills.

I want to work in the office side of a major media company. I have dozens of LinkedIn connections inside and can see their career path. It’s like worked at local restaurant bam upper management. Hairdresser zip straight to director of marketing.

I have tons of experience and get rejected by resume filter no matter how hard I reword things.

  • Covid 19

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the disease and how the virus spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by staying at least 1 metre apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn and follow local guidance.
