I’m replaying all four games from the beginning with all the bells and whistles on my PS4. Currently playing the first game now. I remember what the first and second game came out, the trailer for the second one is still amazing and the story of the games has always interested me (I’ve always loved the Horsemen). Still remember playing one and two on my Xbox 360, when the third game was announced my hype levels were basically through the roof and I like Genesis for what it is and the story but I prefer the combat of the older games personally. I have one of the books but not the second one yet, might just pick that up this week. Needless to say I’m a massive fan of this series and if Darksiders four ever comes out that’s a fucking day one purchase for me, even if I have to buy the dlc later like I did for the third game. I know it’s not a series really talked about now and days but I’m curious if anyone is still a fan, had any of the books and still plays them or at least remembers them.

Oot?
First two were great IMO
Ending of first was badass
Preferred War over Death due to his big sword
2 was easily the best, music was incredible…..I even enjoyed 3
Great game for it’s time! I just started playing the first one recently. I’ve never played the others.
One through three I found good, and while the overall gameplay aspect outside of the combat changed each time, the combat had to due to the characters, each was good in its own way imo.
The ending of one was perfect, two was as well but one definitely had the best story. Wars mah boi! Dude literally held no cards yet never came out on the bottom.
This is the 3rd mention of this game in the last week that I’ve run across. Might be time to get back to the game I started 2 years ago lol. Great game, by the way. I don’t care how much it steals from other games, it does it very well and in a stylish new package.
First one was ok at best, the second just felt tedious and Death was was not done well. Changing the other two horsemen from Pestilence and Famine into Fury and Strife was really lame too. All in all I thought it was a bad series.
Platinumed the first two. There’s actually 4 games out and there and no clue what happened after the ending of the first game. Such an epic ending. We need to see what happens next!
Im replaying the firrst one rn. I love this series.
Basically Zelda from hell and I was there for it
I do. The first and third one were hard. Never finished them. But the second one was great and the coolest.
I mean, latest came out 2020 or something so not that hard to remember?
I enjoyed playing as war, kicking ass and farming those armor pieces. Good times.
Loved War in the first game but Darksiders 2 is a timeless classic.
I recently replayed it and had a blast.
The executions in this game are to die for.
I liked it but I hated the slow cutscenes to show the combat area closing off and enemies spawning in. Really made the game feel slow especially around puzzle sections. Had fun though
I have 1 and 2 on my switch. Growing up I was a Nintendo and Sony kid so never played it when it dropped on 360 but always wanted to. The switch has given me that opportunity and I love it.
First two were amazing. Third one was alright. Darksiders Genesis was fun as hell.
Was this that long go where people would forget? Great game
My friend gifted me this game’s physical copy when we were 10.
I never had the proper equipment to play it, until 9 years later. I played half of it. But it felt really repetitive with an uninteresting story and annoying puzzles. The combat is amazing for its time, but it felt like the puzzles took a larger portion of the game than actual combat.
So I didn’t finish it. Would still recommend it, though. It just isn’t for me.
They are ALL great. All of them. People hate on 3 because it’s tougher, but if you can manage it there is a lot to love. And my all time best co-op experience was playing through Genesis with a good friend of mine. We beat the game twice, once on normal and again on the Apocalypse difficulty. Insanely fun.
DS one and two are some of my favorite games of all time, also Remnant from the same devs is hugely underrated, darksiders 3 was a big letdown as a darksouls clone that just didnt have that loving craft put into it like the first 2 games, heres to hoping for another darksiders game akin to the first two or even a Remnant 2
‘Member Darksiders?!?!
Of course. The first was cool but that second game just wouldn’t end. Third and fourth were largely forgettable but fine. Really like the concept of the series, I just think it’s a little wasted on this quality of game. I would love these biblical characters used in something more like God of War.
One of my favorite franchises
have played and enjoyed everyone of them…still waiting for strife to get his own SOLO game!!!
Fun/Stupid story : I really enjoyed the first one that was fully translated in french, but for some reason in the sequel they decided to not translate the names.
First, that was strange to hear new names for every characters, and second it felt stupid since those are biblical creatures who had no reason to speak french but choose their english names.
Every dialogues were weird to le because of it and I couldn’t enjoy it
Might be time to revisit this series. I started playing this and Dragon Age with a good friend of mine who unfortunately passed away and I never went back. Might be cathartic to start over and finish it….for my friend. RIP.
I remember my buddy working on this game for awhile before it came out. He was one of the animators and I would watch him play test through it before it came out. I loved listening to the development team talk about their influences and what they were trying to accomplish with it. I’m so happy it’s had such a lasting effect and I agree the first two are the best. Vigil was eventually bought out by THQ and the original creators went on to other projects which is why the third installment has a different feel. Shout out to all the creators and developers of passion projects like this.
Yes
Only played the first one, but it was awesome
I rather forget.
I’ve never played the games but I’ve heard of them
Am I that old now?
Well considering it’s from 2010 it’s hard not to. Alright game.
1 was great
2 was better
3 was tragic
didn’t play genesis yet
Dude, it’s not that old 😀
I got half way through it before giving up. It just took so long to walk across rooms, the whole environment just felt like it was scaled up needlessly.
If Ocarina of time was rated R
Best console game since OOT.
IMO.
