I’m not paying 60-70 dollars for an eight year old game.
Like, on principle. Don’t get me started on the price of some of their expansions. My wife made me buy the Mario Party expansion. It was a whole other 60 bucks if I remember correctly. I just disagree with the price point on a lot of their stuff.
I’ve built a nice Switch library waiting for the sales at Target (they had 40% off games and it included first party titles back in like March), and if you have their RedCard its an additional 5% off. They’re not bargain bin prices, but if you’re not in a rush, it can be a deal.
I have a list made on DekuDeals and I *only* buy on sale. When I first got my Switch (I was super late to the party and my first one was an OLED), I was too hype to start playing and bought both BOTW and Super Mario Maker 2 at full price. Since then, I’ve made it a point not to buy a game unless it’s on sale.
For my US friends:
Every once in a while Target runs a buy 2 get one free on games (I think this is an online only sale). This brings the price down to $40 each if you pick all $60 games.
Also Nintendo Games: “I am a fan favorite game from an older generation console, but I now cost $300 at retro game shops and my company refuses to acknowledge my existence even though people are begging for a remake or even a barely optimized port”
Additionally besides being an old game, it’s paying $60 for a game that looks straight out of the Wii generation and runs at 30 fps.
I meant for switch games. With a few exceptions (BOTW), few games on this console look impressive or run well. I recently bought Link’s Awakening on the Switch for full price and couldn’t finish it because of all the stuttering.
I am a pc person but, I have wanted to play breath of the wild since it dropped. My daughter got a switch for Christmas last year and I keep wanting to “borrow” it and play BOTW but the damn game is STILL $60. Coming from pc it’s really hard to pay sixty bucks for a game. Been watching and waiting for a sale but, no dice.
This is a common misconception. Black Friday deals, Target’s famous B2G1, eBay sales. It’s not too hard to find a good deal on a Nintendo game if you know where to look.
*GOTY* *sequel releasing on switch 3+*
Still waiting for DKC Tropical Freeze to be $20 (8 year old game btw)
Nintendo: Have fun on our terms.
Dunno, i’ve bought both BOTW and Monster Hunter: Rise on sale, former was a digital copy at Target, latter was a physical copy at a Danish Power.
At least it makes the decision easier. I’ll just buy it at launch after reviews. There’s no use in waiting to buy it for cheaper.
Walmart has most Switch games on sale for about $10-20 off most of the time, sometimes even brand new ones.

Nintendoin’ it to ’em
That’s metroid prime 4 or an imaginary F-Zero sequel
Hey! At least you get next-gen graphics, incredible online game play, and *definitely* the highest quality hardware to play this with!

Most video games after 15 years: 5$ in a bargain bin.
Nintendo games after 15 years: 200$ in a display case.
Even worse for us Canadians. $79.99 + tax. With the current exchange rate, we should be paying $77.53!
Not just Nintendo games. Most games on Nintendo store. Coromon on Steam is 16 Euros, on sale for 11. On Switch its 20 Euros and not on sale.
And a side effect of this is that even used copies are like $40. Wtf.
Thank god for emulators

You need to go digital. Nintendo eshop have sales for 1st party games
Jokes on you! Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart just went 20% off!
“Yeah, but I am finished and won’t require six months of updates to be playable.”
https://www.dekudeals.com/ is your friend. Has price history and even lets you sign up for alerts when a game you want is on sale.
Im more partial to “I am 60 dollars and will never go on sale : remastered”

Not huge, but it’s better than nothing.
Hey now, my physical copy of Soulsilver continues to be worth more with each passing year.
Also Nintendo Games: “I am a fan favorite game from an older generation console, but I now cost $300 at retro game shops and my company refuses to acknowledge my existence even though people are begging for a remake or even a barely optimized port”
My switch collects dust because of this.
Bad timing since they just did lol
