>Set in the 1870s, Gabe Polsky’s adaptation of John Williams’ literary western stars Nicolas Cage as a buffalo hunter who lures a naïve young man into an ambitious expedition in the Colorado Rockies
Read this last summer while hiking in Colorado and had a great time. I’m not sure I’d say it’s a great book, but there’s the possibility of a great movie coming from it.
That the director’s previous experience includes shooting documentaries in the wilds and the snow gives me hope that he can capture the necessary atmosphere.
Is this the movie where he walked off set because Hannah Gutierrez Reed fired off a round next to his head on accident? Crazy that she was allowed to continue working after that and cost Halyna Hutchins’ life.
EDIT: Looks like that was “The Old Way” and she was scheduled to work on this but was cut from the crew.
I hope this is an actually well made movie, and now some b movie type thing.

I’m loving the Nic Cage renaissance. I hope this is awesome. Pig and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent were both terrific.
Butcher’s Crossing is an excellent book, very thoughtful, and definitely not pulpy. This should be more Pig Nic Cage than Willy’s Wonderland Nic Cage.
Oh fuck I had no idea they were adapting this. Williams is a master.
