This is sweet
The Jackie Shane live album is the best. The band plays non-stop and Jackie’s between song banter is sharp, witty, and playfully catty. I can’t recommend it enough.
Sixty years later and we are still dealing with the hate and bigotry of the christian right.
Oh wow – I knew Rick James and Neil Young were long time friends, but didn’t know this is where they started and sounded.
There’s always something new to hear and learn about music.
Awesome.
Sounds a little like MJ.
Leave people alone. How fucking hard can it be
Why don’t people sing with this much beauty and soul in their voices anymore?
Jackie’s song “Any Other Way” was her biggest hit, it peaked at #2 on the Toronto charts and went on to become a gay anthem due to it’s course “tell her that I’m happy/tell her that I’m gay/tell her I wouldn’t have it any other way” It is a great song and the name of the compilation/live album that was released a few years ago. A recent book about queer history in Toronto also took its name from the song and features a good article on Jackie Shane.
Tolerance??? Just shameful. Makes me very sad
Never knew of her. Wow
I want to like her, I want to give her music a chance, but she looks too much like Raven that I can’t stand her face for more than 3 seconds. Why did Raven have to grow up to be such a twit?!
Oh yea Canada was SOOOO TOLERANT as if the last De-savage school didn’t close in like 1997
Haven’t heard this till now, and it’s pretty damn good
She’s really good.
Well I hope Neil Young will remember a southern man don’t need him around anyhow.
Thanks for this, OP. I’m really digging this tune! Laid-back and jamming at the same time.
Thanks for the music.
sounds like Jimi Hendrix Purple Haze to me. Must be the chord progression
This is so cool… thank you!
Awesome
