This is an alternate shot to the US compilation album “Hey Jude” cover released in February, 1970. This LP featured several tracks released in the US, yet not then featured on albums. This release was a result of the renegotiated contract the Beatles signed with Allen Klein in the “Get Back/Let It Be” era.
The original title was supposed to have been, “The Beatles Again,” and labels and covers were printed with this title on the spine. Though the title was changed to “Hey Jude,” many LP’s were distributed with the former title.
The photograph itself was taken August 22, 1969, by Ethan Russel, who appeared in the “Get Back” film, taking pictures while the Beatles rehearsed and recorded. His photos were used on the eventual “Let It Be” cover, displaying four separate shots, one of each Beatles, on a field of black. The location was John’s large estate at Tittenhurst Park. near Ascot.
Many other photos were taken this day, notably the photo used as the back cover, originally intended as thecfront, of the Beatles lying on the grass lawn. Others featured them walking through willow trees and rowing a boat in the small lake. Some unused photos also showed Yoko and Linda McCartney, who was expecting her first child with Paul.
They look thrilled to be together.

Greatest ever. Sad it ended
John, going for a “Zorro with Batman’s utility belt” look and nailing it.
Not happy.
