“Jungle Pam“ was a huge draw for the drag racing fans of the era. Her full name was Pam Hardy and she was linked to Jim Lieberman, known as “Jungle Jim.“ He was a Top Hot Rod Association driver, and she became well-known as his assistant during those years.
She joined Jim after a chance meeting in PA, when she was 18, and shortly due to graduate. When at events, she would often dress in halter tops or t-shirts, along with shorts. She wore her brown hair long, and moved along the track, preparing her teammate for the start of the races.
Tragically, he died in an automobile accident in 1977, at 31 years old. She retired from the sport, but is still well-remembered by fans.
