Following this logic, this post is useless as well.
Unfortunately that’s all the GOP has for you.
Useless to live children too unfortunately.
I have a feeling those parents would appreciate it
Aren’t the thoughts and prayers supposed to be for the families, not the children? Not that it makes much difference…
That sentiment has become as trite. Plus I feel they should cite Anthony Jeselnik even if he maybe wasn’t the first to ridicule the phrase. But for popularizing doing so.
…and does not prevent the next one.
There has to be more serious actions taken! Perhaps some moments of silence will help turn things around.
and the homeless, those without health insurance, or jobs with a living wage.. Just about anybody!
So sad, so true.
Burnside?
way to be a buzzkill
But, but, but, praying the evil away works, right? Right?
Yeah but it makes me feel better for not doing anything
I just hope the grieving families don’t get accused of being crisis actors and that this is all fake. What the parents of the Sandy Hook tragedy suffered at the hands of those conspiracy theorists was heartless and cruel.
I’m sure many of those grieving Hispanic families are Catholic and actually do appreciate the prayer.
#Do Something
Literally everything is useless to dead children, so….
THe survivors need comfort, prayers and support… But I guess the haters can harass them too…?
People can most certainly pray for the families that have their children taken away from. I also think that praying and doing something about it in conjunction is much more meaningful. However, sometimes not all of us have the ability to do the things we want, and our way of helping is by praying and making a statement.
European citizens are mostly unarmed, and they somehow remain free.
Religion is comforting for people in trying situations. So weird how this gets people so upset.
So is this.
Believe it or not, but for some people when you tell them you’re praying for them, it brings them comfort. And a lot of REAL Christians who do pray, also take action in the way of helping the families, teachers, schools, etc. Not everyone is out for vengeance or finger pointing.
I know my comment will just get hated on and downvoted since the Reddit hivemind thinks He’s just a “wizard in the sky”, and I don’t really care but we don’t just pray for magic to happen, we take faith in action as we see according to His will. Bad people are going to do bad things, we can only do what we can. So sorry if “thoughts and prayers” doesn’t fit your bill of what Christians or God should do, but if you don’t believe, then maybe focus your energy on being positive and helping out.
Latin _tias_ disagree. Share and like to save a child.
Unlike reddit posts which generally change the world for the better instead of further polarizing things
Prayers are for the people left here to deal with grief. And to help us get right with God, ie. Be the ones who recognize and thank God for his infinite glory.
Prayer is like masturbation; it feels good for person doing it but does nothing for the person in their thoughts.
After the first 4 words, you can just stop.
Even harder for abortions.
We need more then thoughts and prayers to save the next group of kids. We need action.
But not to the parents who are alive en sad.
The GOP can shove their thoughts and prayers up their Nazi asses. Sickening, vile group of people
Is this an abortion thing?… asking for a friend
Typical redneck: *”Abortion bad. Guns good.”*
“Don’t forgets about me…I’m super sadds too…”
We argue more over wearing a mask in public than gun control. We’re one craaaaaaazy country.
Useless in general, really.
In the 1700s, a mathematician compared the rate of sinking ships. He compared prison ships to missionary ships.
Now, a missionary ship is going to have a lot of prayers coming its way. Anyone who prays for missionaries or the servents of God is throwing their prayers at those ships.
The prisoner ships are going to be receiving less prayers and even prayers against them.
He found that prison ships and missionary ships sank at the exact same rate.
This is as close to a mathematical proof of prayer’s ineffectiveness as we can get. It does not speak to God’s existence, only that praying to God is a waste of time.
Such great content on r/p(olit)ics
What about the children killed weekly in Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta?????? Don’t THEY matter???
For context. Catholic church teachings state that aborted babies or quite really any child that dies before their Baptism is automatically recieved into Heaven for they have done no wrong. The prayers are more of a “God please remember to deliver (babies name) into Heaven.”
Basically every Child is pure until they have rational thought and choices
Sources: Dude trust me, and that one Catechism passage I read like three weeks ago regarding this abortion junk
(Note I am not taking a pro-life or pro-choice stance in this, it’s just a neutral explanation)
About as useful as a Uvalde Police Officer
“thoughts and prayers” aka “i’ll think about mentioning your name while i’m sucking up to god later on tonight before bed.”
‘But our magical thinking will surely save us from this hellscape we created….’
Wish certain politicians would listen but they never never never will unless all political “contributions”/bribes are illegal. And you know how likely that is.
