Love tears for fears and that instrument sounds so cool. Really didn’t need the guy playing the ottoman though
That was pretty cool and had a great sound quality. Thanks for sharing.
What I find lacking in so many current musical groups/acts is the ability to just sit down and sing/play.
Drum beat is a bit loud. I love this video first time I have noticed it.
I feel this is almost better than the original video. The young girl watching older generations singing one of the songs that made them famous in their youth. It’s a very real and feels like it has a different meaning now. Wonderful.
Nice!
One of the best songs ever made.
I feel like that guy from tears for fears is way more handsome now than he was in the eighties
I used to bank with a Mennonite Credit Union in the Waterloo, Ontario area, and one day probably 30 years ago there was an old dude sitting in there playing hammered dulcimer – never heard of it before or since until now. I stopped and asked the guy what it was because it looked and sounded so interesting.
Goshen, IN and Waterloo, ON have very deep connections due to the shared Mennonite history.
This guy is Mennonite, I wonder if there was a family connection.
Why is there a man who looks exactly like Curt Smith from Tears for
Fears playing an acoustic set next to that tree and your swimming pool?
From northwest Ohio… Hammered Dulcimer is a beautiful instrument
Me: What instrument do you play?
Ted Yoder: I’m a harp drummer
Ever since they were a “joke” in Psych I feel like it’s just one continual thing. But it certainly just shows you how down to earth he is in my opinion.
I went and saw Hall and Oates a few years ago. I was a big fan way back and was excited! And they were touring with Tears for Fears. Which I had honestly, kind of forgotten. Hall and Oates did their set in what I call a “bored with their own stuff” way that older bands will do. Add all kinds of new stuff to the old hits to spice them up and I personally did not enjoy any of their set. I just wanted to hear the Hall and Oates I remembered. Oh well….
Then Tears for Fears took the stage and transported me back to my youth! They did a marvelous job and I became a renewed fan! Went home and listened to all their hits for a few weeks again here and there. Read the lyrics etc. And got kind of into them.
This video just sent them into my hall of fame.
Why would you let your dulcimer drink that much?
Vocals are awesome. Dulcimer is sublime. But holy smokes, please lose that overwhelming beat box of a drumbeat. Ugh …
Boomers in the YouTube comments complaining about the audio quality and the vertical video.
That was really cool and brought back memories of years past.
Man, that gave me goosebumps. That was incredible.
On a somewhat related note, their new album is incredible. I don’t know any of their stuff past Sewing the Seeds of Love until now and I think I’m missing out.
Can someone remove the black box neo-snare, dude is playing that like Bruce Dickinson asked for more cowbell.
Hammered dulcimer makes me think of Wheel of Time.
That is the most cliche rural Indiana yard and view. Myself and every one of my friends had places looked just like that.
