That’s just absolutely absurd to me. Rich Strike absolutely dominated in his push from 4th to 1st. All credit to the jockey to put the horse in that position leading up
What a race, he came out of nowhere
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a horse swing that wide and fast from outside to in and keep such a fast stride in traffic. Race was super fast at the start but RS weathered the favorites. Crazy
That’s some horse!
It was like Moses himself parted the Red Sea and gave this horse the prefect lane to run to the finish. Unbelievable!
Damn what a horse
Not really into horse racing but have experience with horses, and from that perspective this is such a beautiful moment for that horse and rider. Can’t wait for the Netflix special
There’s always a chance
An “also eligible” horse, from the widest gate, stalking off the pace on a dirt track that’s running fast and he kills it.
It violates all the general conventions.
Goosebumps, what a horse and rider!
Absurd. How.
Someone out there just retired a millionaire
“But here comes ~~Sebastian Vettel~~ Rich Strike!”
Seriously though, that was mightily impressive, the rate at which he hunted down the leaders on the final stretch was incredible.
You might never see anything like that ever again, what an insane close by Rich Strike
Anyone know what the biggest bet was on him?
This angle is so much better than that other garbage angle. This one gave me a bit of frisson watching it with that awesome announcer
That horse has been watching the Mets
Bless you for posting this. This is what I wanted to see. The NBC footages shifted cameras *right* as the jockey and horse were making their move.
What an amazing job of maneuvering the horse.
And at the end, it looked as if the jockey was making sure the horse saw his competition.
Not sure if that’s what was happening, but I was reminded of Seabiscuit, and the advice to make sure he saw the other horse do he’d get competitive and kick into high speed.
All of sudden that horse kicked into high gear.
I can see the cinematic now.
Thundering down the stretch outta nowhere and claiming the prize at the final few moments
DRS mode on the last straight! 💨
That’s an epic comeback. Horse went full beast mode to finish it.
No fair, you changed the results by checking!
It looks like a college track event where they gave the college guys a head start and put Usain Bolt at the back and he just did his thing. That horse looks like it’s in a complete league of his own. Unreal.
As someone who knows nothing about horse racing, could someone ELI5 all the factors that came into play for Rich Strike to win? I assume it’s not a simple thing – but that horse and view sure made it look easy.
(I know this is r/sports for people who are into the posted sport, but I’m truly fascinated and it popped up in my feed, so please be kind. TIA!)
I wanna know if someone bet a large amount like you see in the movies but won unlike in the movies they loose
What a fucking monster. Holy shit.
When he got room to run he blasted off.
