I think some of the problems are with how early they announce it. Personally I think they should announce it the year before they release it, when it’s already finnished
It’s mostly investors and publishers. Like we might say we want a game now but we have no voice in that matter it’s all about deadlines, publishers, investors, and money. Never once is consumer considered except what quarter they should release to make the most money from a consumer
Developers: We need more time. This game in its current state is an unplayable mess!
Investors: Release it anyway and fix it through patches over the course of a few months. Or don’t, we already have their money by then so who really cares?
This hasn’t been true for years now. Majority of gamers are tired as shit of half-finished games being released and are happy to wait. The reception of the news on Halo Infinite and BF2042’s releases being delayed were extremely positive overall. It means they are spending more time to make a better game (although both of those above examples could have used even more time).
Yes, it’s the gamers fault developers don’t give realistic release estimates, overhype their games and release them early. Because, as we all know, each and every one of us holds sway over multi-million dollar corporations.
This victim-blaming dumbassery really needs to be Old Yeller’d.
Bro you gotta stop this argument, it’s complete bullshit. Gamers have no say when a game releases, it’s all management and investors. Gotta show pretty numbers. Everything is about pleasing higher ups, saving ass, etc. idk how this is even a viewpoint u have to be so disconnected from reality
Who seriously thinks devs release a game early from pressure from the fans. Its all the publisher forcing them to release to make a quarterly profit target
I hate this false narrative so damn much, the customers have no say in when a game comes out, they’re still going to buy your game 6 months later, it was the money grubbing higher-ups that forced you to release your game in time for Christmas or whatever arbitrary date they got stuck in their heads.
Investors*

Gamers have no impact whatsoever on when a game gets released.
This is the fault of the higher ups/the investors in the companies, and they just like to pin it on people crying about delays.
Yes people shouldn’t lose their shit over delays, but it’s not as though anybody actually forced CDPR to release Cyberpunk 2077 unfinished.
Well, nobody other than the people at CDPR who could make that call.
Greed*
This is not true lol
Defending gaming companies is cool!

Who tf says that? I’ve never seen a gamer say that, at least on PC.
Anyone who thinks gamers are to blame for this rather than investors and company higher-ups is incredibly naive.
are you saying we forced them to release dogshit unfinished games?
or was it their management that did?
cringe post
“Oh jeez the fans are getting IMPATIENT we’d better listen to them” said no game developer fucking ever lmao
This is purely the fault of the studios marketing team.
Don’t announce a game you don’t plan on having ready for 4 more years and people won’t complain about it taking so long.
Players are not the problem; it is shareholders and quarterly profit that drive products to launch before they’re ready.
Pure.
Simple.
Corporate.
Greed.
That’s right, blame the fans, there you go!
Pretty sure this is a management problem, companies want games out at certain times to maximize profits

Classic post thats completely wrong once again
Game company: Promises delivery by X
Gamers: It is X where is the game
Game company: You keep pressuring :(:(:(

Ah cause gamers have a say in the decisions of these billion dollar companies.
It’s our fault they release half baked shit, totally not due to the greed of corporations.
Hello fellow gamers, I’m definitely not a company writing this. Fuck off with that victim blaming bullshit.
Dumb meme. Gamers would rather wait for a better product, *INVESTORS* are the ones driving product launch dates to meet their schedules.
This is bullshit. If a developer fails to meet a deadline it is entirely their fault and no one else’s.

You spelled investors wrong
This post is stupid and untrue
Huh? So you’re blaming the players????? That’s a sad thought, and very very stupid
This meme has it completely wrong.
