Happy birthday (November 30, 1955) to William Michael Albert Broad, also known as Billy Idol. He is the co-founder and lead singer of Generation X and later became an MTV superstar. His hit song “White Wedding” reached #4 in 1982.

This man still puts on one of the most high energy shows to this day 😎. Really good stuff with him , Steve Stevens and the rest of the band.
Think my favorite Billy Idol stories are when he cut the roof off Bam’s Lamborghini and that time he had to be tranquilized by the police or military in order to remove him from a hotel he had destroyed

I had this crazy reoccurring dream as a 6-7 year old in the mid 90s that Billy was a vampire in the apartment complex we lived in, was in love with me and trying to turn me.

After Billy Idol left Generation X, former member Tony James formed Sigue Sigue Sputnik, who is known for Love Missile F1-11. This song is on Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

1982 was an extremely difficult year to top the charts too.
These days when you listen to him talk, you think there’s no way he can sing anymore. Then his voice turns into butter when he sings.
Back in the 80’s, he did a couple of hours on a local radio station spinning records he liked. It was awesome. He was very laid back and talked about what he liked and why. His music taste was wonderful and it was a really nice couple of hours.
Met him through a friend and what a sweetheart. A total gentleman to me and really everyone he happened to speak with that evening.
White Wedding only reached #4? They literally play it twice a day on the radio here, on multiple stations

Just saw him in Kansas City a few months ago. Just as good as he ever was and still has that bad boy attitude. As he was introducing the band, he ripped his shirt off and screamed, “AND I AM BILLY FUCKING IDOL!!” .
