He was a self made man and illiterate, he used to tell me stories of his struggles growing up as an apprentice instead of going to school. He passed away at age 77 ten years ago.
Holy shit 9? That poor mother.
Well he did manufacture the wooden ramp which felled him when hanged.
One does not simply…
…refuse the demands of a fascist dictator.

I feel like Saddam really didn’t get enough credit for how shitty he was.
Welp…Saddam got his.
Nice pic. What did your grandfather do for an income when Saddam confiscated his carpentry business?
Your grandfather is handsome and also he’s a hero. Must have been so hard to stand up to Sadist Hussein like that!
Someone should hunt that punk down… Oh wait…
That Saddam was a jerk.
This man’s image is under the definition of “Dapper” in the dictionary.
Sorta getting Edgar Allen Poe/Vincent Price vibes. Good looking dude, your grandfather.
Can you imagine having a wealthy leader in your country who refused to pay his workers and punishing people who are not loyal to him? I would hate to live in a country like that.
That Saddam guy sure was an asshole
Handsome.
I love this picture, your grandfather was very handsome. He honestly looks like an old school movie star.
My dad was Iraqi and when he left Iraq to do his postgrad in England Saddam was a criminal. When he got back in the late ‘60’s he was in power. My dad got stopped by security on his way back because his hair was long! Apparently he looked like a Beatle!
It sounds like your family fled too. Your grandfather must have been very brave. The cohones on him to say no to that fuck.
anybody else notices the stitches and needle on the coat? not quite ready for the family…but they all are. lol
It’s a shame how beautiful and prosperous nations like Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and Syria were back in the 50s and 60s.
Worked with an Albanian that had his family’s estate confiscated by the communists after WWII. Until Communism fell they treated his family like dog shit because his grandfather fought the communists and ended up in prison for 35 years. His father committed a minor offence but because he was the son of an “enemy of communism ” he got 15 years in prison. He told me the only reason they didn’t starve to death as kids was his mother made illegal booze and traded it for food
I’m sorry but he really messed up. Could have been in good graces.
Did he live in Iraq his entire life or did he emigrate?
Sharp looking dude! He must have had a robust business to have it confiscated. Most carpenters are small contractors. Taking their business would be meaningless as they are the business. He must have been pretty successful. Hope he was able to succeed after that shitty event.

Sorry about the arm.
Hang on. If he had nine daughters, did he have any sons?
A man who had a golden toilet, demanding free furniture.
He’s so handsome and his style is sharp as a tack. She’s such a tiny baby. She must have been weeks old, if that.
That baby is so cute and tiny. Look at her little bonnet. She’s absolutely adorable. Your grandfather looks very fancy.
He outlived the bastard.
Sounds like something trump would do.
Why would you risk your family’s biggest means of income cause you’re too stubborn to make a couple of fucking rocking chairs…..
He’s so stylish🤭
