I run a monthly gaming book club with a few friends where we vote on a game to all play, we’re about to enter our 4th year and this is what we’ve played so far!

Man that seems cool! Sadly my school doesn’t have any clubs, so yeah that sucks for me ;-;
Over the pandemic I was inspired by the podcast ‘The Besties’ to start a game of the month book club with a few friends. We’ve beaten every game on this list over the last 3 years and has really turned my gaming hobby into more of a passion.
I hope I can inspire someone out there to do the same with their friends as it’s really helped expand our vocabulary for gaming, encouraged us to explore our gaming preferences, and made the decision of what to play next infinitely more exiting.
Great idea and great list. As the club, which games did you enjoy most?
You folks have pretty good taste from what I’ve played.
Nice, a lot of fantastic games there.
I need this so much.
Portal 2 – for me even in 2023 a timeless classic.
I need better friends. This sounds awesome!
Try “ibb & obb” if you’re looking for a fun couch co-op experience that won’t break the bank. You can beat the whole game in less than 5 hrs, but it’s a very memorable 5 hrs.
I wanna do this with my friends! How do you guys decide what games to have up for voting? Or I guess how does it work?
This honestly sounds amazing, I’d love to have a group like this!
Did you play the second ori game and not the first????
You should add terraria to that list! It’s great to play with friends!
If you liked Sea of Stars you shoud definitly also try Chained Echoes
That is such a cool idea!! I love it.
How do you navigate games that aren’t affordable to people at the time? Or do you just sail the high seas and discuss afterwards?
Yall should do ultimate chicken horse
How do you nominate games to vote on? How many stable members?
Ya’ll need some rock and stone
Feel like all of you in here saying “I need more friends” should start a discord gaming club together. You can all make friends together!
That seems like a cool club to be a part of, where do you all meet, and that list has a lot of cool looking games on it that I have been wanting to play myself, is there a time limit to which you have to complete the game?
Cool idea I’m jealous
Why no valheim tho
Phenomenal idea! What’s been your favorite from this list?
What an amazing idea!!! That’s so cool!
sounds like a very fun idea! and i see great games listed, btw how was hypnospace outlaw? im looking forward to play it some time in the future
Sad that you started with the best one, all down hill from there
Play Death’s Door if you haven’t!
Try Hifi rush!
Sounds amazing. I’m incredibly jealous. I’ve always wanted to do something like this but I’m deaf with cochlear implants, I’m fine to speak with 1 on 1 but when it comes to group chat, I can get pretty overwhelmed easily because I can’t pick up on who’s who, then I shut down because I’m shy lol.
Hope you keep up with the gaming club!! 4 years is incredible.
Sekiro if you’re looking for a challenge. Fromsoft but wildly different from Elden Ring and wayyyyy more satisfying
What do you think about Jedi survivor? Kinda curious considering how horrible the battlefront reboot games were
I’m unclear on what you mean by gaming book club, do you also read books as a group or only games?
Also seconding the suggestion of Valheim. And V Rising too.
Wait you played portal 2 but not 1?
hypnospace spotted
Steamworld Quest! Brilliant choice, I loved that game
This is so awesome and your Indy choices feel so at home with an idea like this.
I’d like to recommend a telltale series. Personally I love the Wolf Among Us but I’ve heard wonderful things about the Walking Dead as well.
I think it would be really cool to see how you and your friends choices and playthroughs differ, plus just the style of a narrative game seems perfect for this kind of thing.
I’d also recommend checking out Roadwarden which is basically just a book that you play.
Really awesome that you and your friends have actually dedicated to doing this. Not sure if my group can be convinced but I’m certainly going to try.
Oh my goodness, this is incredible. I would want to do this
this is such a fantastic idea i’m stealing this for my friends lol. Also some really good picks there I loved hades in particular
This is the magic of gamepass, being able to play with your friends in a lot of different games
How did everyone like disco elysium?
you would like risk of rain 2
This is awesome. You guys looking for some new friends? XD
Glad to see Portal and the Bioshock series!
Wow that’s sick! Do you guys accept new members or is this a private thing?
I’m gonna shoot my shot and say yall play an old rpg like legends of dragoon next 👀 either way this is such a fantastic idea and i wish i had a group of friends i could do this with. Bravo op 👏
This list needs Hollow Knight
Yall should try out Risk of Rain 2, seeing that on your reply to a comment you mentioned how Hades was one of the most loved games yall played. It’s coop and has lots of moddable stuff for it. Have fun!
I wish I had friends like you, my friends only ever play FIFA and cod :
I wonder if i could get my book discord server to do something like this….
Thank you for sharing this!
This is a great idea!
