I hate to inform you that your father is WRONG.
The first time I saw the picture, I thought the dogs ass was his head, the leg looks kind of like an ear
Some have lapdogs. Others have keyboard cats.
Looks like a lap dog to me 😁🤭👍
My sister-in-law used to have a Bernese Mountain Lap Dog.
I used to have a Dalmatian, a shepherd mix and a pit who were all lap dogs at the same time. All four of us used to some how pile onto the recliner at the same time
It’s just a dog that hangs out on your lap. It’s different.
All dogs self identity as lap dogs, including Great Danes and St Bernards

We have lap head dogs… they can’t fit in your lap but love the attention.
We had a pretty big, very hairy border collie who thought she was a lap dog. And a foot dog. And a leg dog. And a “where are you right now? Okay, I’m going to be in exactly that same spot, too” dog.
Miss her.
I have a 100# lab and he’s a lap dog.
He’ll miss it when he’s gone. Let him lap
