Shadow Man remastered is great. They added in a bunch of content that was cut from N64.
It’s one of the first 3D Metroidvania games ever, before that term existed, and it took heavy inspiration from Ocarina of Time as well with dungeons and stuff.
Keep in mind that this list has a bit of Confirmation Bias as well as Survivorship Bias. Every game they remaster is popular simply because it was a well-received game originally (or else why remaster?). People will generally look kindly on remasters of a favorite or nostalgic game.
Admittedly, remasters can be done poorly, so saying this is not a knock on the effort they put in. They’ve definitely done a good job. But that can’t be 100% of the story.
Shadow Man is fucking fantastic, had the OG on the N64 finally 100% it once the remaster came out, definitely one of my favorite and criminally underated titles
A turok style fight dinosaurs and mercs game in on modern console has always felt like really low hanging fruit. Horizon zero dawn even proved it can be done with robots, just do that but up the ante and with real Dinos
Funny how everyone seems to skip Blade Runner when it comes to nightdive. I guess people don’t like to acknowledge how bad they fumbled that one.
And even though it has been patched a couple of times, there’s still lots of things they never fixed, including small things like menus, translations of the menus, the video intro in different languages, etc.
It got so bad that even the people on digital foundry acted like either the game never released or any problems were patched because they like other nightdive games. Lost a lot of respect for them.
One of my first gaming experiences was my grandfather letting me play Turok and quake back in the day. Never played System Shock but after watching a few videos, it seems really cool for its time.
He also got me into RPGs with Summoner – a PS2 release game and still one of my favorite RPGs. I know that’s a tangent.
Of course most of the praise should be reserved for the original developers of these games. I believe System Shock is the only one Nightdrive fully remade, the rest are remasters or re-releases.
Man I loved Quake game series, so much fun, one of my first multiplayer games

Powerslave Exhumed. Lol. The name and image made me watch the trailer. Looks interesting. Who’s played it?

Played so much Turok 2 as a kid, one of my all time favorites.

Boomer Shooter fans are pure, that’s why. We just want to be treated right. And Nightdive is one of the best at this.

Nostalgia is a helluva drug, and they got me hooked
System Shock 1 – best game I ever played
Big hype on System Shock remake 2. In 7y perhaps haha

Blood and System shock are my favorite
Dark Forces 1 on the way as well as far as I know.
