Does any game even come close to having a companion app that integrated as well as AC Black Flag?

Fallout 4 had the pipboy app
Why the fuck would you need a companion app for Black Flag
Destiny 2 has several API/companion apps. They’ve saved me dozens of hours of time
Black flag is my favorite AC game by a long way, but I didn’t even realize they had a companion app. What did it let you do?
The only one i can think of is Ghost Recon Wildlands.
Oh man. Companion apps were horrible almost everything had a Companion app.
Dying Light had a very similar app to GR:Wildlands, both were pretty fun as once in a while apps.
MGSV had a pretty useful one
World of Warcraft had one that let you run your minion missions. Since they reset every few hours, it was nice to be able to start new ones without having to log in.
Ah Black Flag, one of the best pirate games out there. A nice chance of pace for the AC series, with the ability to freely go between islands, smooth controls and a good balance of game mechanics.
Fuck the ‘real world’ parts though, those parts sucked donkey balls.
This app was fun! One of the best parts though was that it was completely optional – nothing locked behind some of.
GTA V, Destiny 2..
EVE online probably has the best integrated companion app.
Fable had the cool smart glass thing that you could use to quickly see maps/inventory etc.
Battlefield 4 has an app that allowed you to be the commander of an actual game running on a PC.
Can’t remember how useful it was, but I remember liking the FFXIV companion app.
I still daydream about Commander Mode in BF4. Running intelligence while on Vacation for my buddies at home was awesome.
Dead Rising 3 used the xbox app Smartglass. If I remember right it acted like the actual phone in the game, was useful.
Battlefield 4.D.
I used to do the fleet missions while at work and when I returned home I would have 10k R waiting to be collected, good times
Companion apps are wierd to me. I barely use my phone though.
Battlefield 4
I actually tried to install this on my Pixel the other day and surprise, no longer compatible.
Yeah that plus I played it on the WiiU which was so nice, not having to look at the map constantly and just having it there to look down at was the best. Sure the framerate might have dipped occasionally but honestly it ran surprisingly well and I still recommend it as the best way to play it.
Dying Light for sure.
BDO had a good one that would actually give you a Bloomberg-like view of item prices on the in game market that was incredibly helpful to see if you were selling items below their historical price.
For some reason that view didn’t exist in game, at least not on console.
Battefield 4
I remember playing as the commander in the battlefield 4 companion app where i would assign objectives for the team and deploy uavs and such. It was amazing
FIFA ultimate team was quite useful last time I was into that game (FIFA 17 maybe)
I used the app while I played the game when it released and it was so unique at its time. Being able to still grind the game away and then come back to collect the rewards in game was so seemless.
Also have to mention that the multiplayer was one of the most unique multiplayer games ive ever played.
Red Dead Redemption 2. I could have the map open on my iPad that would show me my location. Loved it.
What had potential was the Titanfall 2 companion app. But they made the companion app only compatible with the Xbox version and not the pc version. So dumb.
So my wife and I used to play together. She would be my navigator while I searched the underwater wrecks.
Loved that.
Battlefield 4 had the commander app on iPad. Pretty cool.
Rust.
Fallout
Warframe
Mass Effect 3 had something like this
It feels like cheating to say this, but pokemon home works great! (It’s probably not what you mean tho)
Battlefield 4 commander app, I remember being in high school during class using it. The idea of affecting a real-time match while I was sitting in class was so sick to me
Warframe
WoW had a pretty good one for awhile. It might even still be around, I’m not sure. I only used it for one expansion.
It let you access all sorts of things in game without actually logging into the game. I mainly used it for the auction house access. It was a fantastic tool for buying and selling stuff, actually far better than what was in the actual stock game.
For one of the expansions, there was a bit of an exploit where gems were selling for far more than the price of the ore used to create them. I sat down one night and did the math based on the market prices for various cuts versus the market prices for ore and realized that I could nearly double my money for every bit of ore I bought, just from selling the more popular gem colors like the blue quality red ones. All the rest were just added profit on top, and even the low quality “green” gems could be turned into the profitable “blue” quality gems to be sold as well.
In the end, I turned like 1k gold into something like 40k over the course of a month or so by just buying all the ore up under a certain threshold, then turning it into gems and cutting them for sale on the AH. It’s the one and only time I’ve ever seen a profession in an MMO turn a profit. I ended up buying a couple of the like 10k gold motorcycle mounts for myself and the girl I was dating at the time, and it was all thanks to that app and how easy it made managing hundreds of AH listings.
Fallout 4 with an iPad as Pipboy and map was absolutely amazing.
