I heard this song as a kid and it’s always been my favorite
Fucking legend
Didnt he sell the song rights to a commercial. I keep forgetting what it was. Like mervins.
Man, his vibrato. I’ve always loved that kind of effortless vibrato in a singer. Ann Wilson has it as well.
Dude has one of the best voices of all times. “In dreams” is one of my favorite songs
One of the 🐐’s. Thanks for the good tunes and the Traveling Wilburys…
Bruce Springsteen wanted to sound like Roy Orbison.
Dude had pipes.
Roy was 52 years old here. He always seemed perpetually in his 70s to me.
We lost out. He died in the middle of a great comeback. He went out at the top again. Gonna have to go listen to Mystery Girl again
Those harmonies with Roy whaling on top are all time
Great performance
Written by Tom petty in a dream
Roy killin’ it
Legend but in this performance it’s not live.
Roy recorded this song with Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty. Later on, Roy, Jeff, and Tom would form the Traveling Wilburys with Bob Dylan and George Harrison.
He died that December. He didn’t get proper recognition. That album was his triumphant return. That and the Traveling Wilbury’s.
My favorite from him is’ the candy coated man they call the sandman, creeps into my room every night ‘ in dreams.
Tom Waits called him the opera singer of rock.
I was a teen then and into metal. It’s crazy to think being alive during the time of legends and not really paying attention to it and/or realizing it.
The Legendary Voice.
This song is fun to play it on guitar. And if you’re a guitarist and like Roy Orbison’s music, try to find Black & White Night. That’s a whole movie you can play guitar along with.
My dad worked in a mechanic shop in the 80s, and we lived in an area that got one or two radio stations so the garage was always playing these light rock songs that, at the time, seemed like they were old songs to me. It’s so bizarre to hear these songs and just go right back to scooting around on a creeper and passing him tools, and to realize that when I heard this music then, it had JUST come out.
This is off the album “Mystery Girl” such a great song. Anyone that loves this song should check out “She’s a Mystery to Me” if they haven’t already, just incredible.
Dewey Cox vibes
You know when I was your age, my mother told me not to get a tattoo of Roy Orbison…
His voice was just flawless.
Baaaaaaa-by!
No one can sing it better than him. I enjoy performing this song myself, even today. I can’t quite do it justice like this, but it’s still a great song and people respond to it.
Ah 1988, when even Roy Orbison had a mini mullet pony tail.
Effortless beauty. This had to be one of his last shows right?
What truly separates musicians is their ability to sound as good or better live. This man was a true artist and wish I could have seen him live. I wasn’t into his music when I was in HS when he died, but came to appreciate him shortly after.
Elvis said Roy Orbison was the greatest singer ever.
Roy had a fairly tragic life. He was actually right on the verge of a career Renaissance when he died. He actually didn’t realize he was held in such high regard by other musicians/artists.
That is right. That album was released just before his death.
Why can’t I upvote more than once.
