That’s a shame, I think his work has a Norman Rockwell quality to it. I wonder if he ever did a self-portrait.
You can hear this poster
Man that Jaws poster is a masterclass on poster design. Sleek, minimal, shows you everything that you’re getting into without too much spoiling. It also creates tension. Is the shark going to get the swimmer? Will she escape at the last moment? Just -chefs kiss-
They really knew how make posters back in the day. Another posters don’t really sell movies anymore but anything would be better than the faces of actors photoshopped looking into the horizon shit that we’ve gotten for the past 15+ years. I can’t imagine it being that more expensive to pay an artist. And the studio could easily capitalize by selling the poster – I mean people still buy movie posters from movies of olde for a reason.
To call this poster iconic doesn’t do it justice! R.I.p. sir
Iconic. Probably scared a lot of people as much as the film did though. Spielberg regretted the negative impact the film had on the reputation of sharks.
On the other hand, the film probably also sparked a lot of fascination and curiosity about great sharks.
I was reading about him a month or so ago. He created some iconic posters that make today’s film posters look amateurish. May he rest in peace.
RIP. One of the best in the business, and his skill will be *sorely* missed.
Technically better/scarier than Paul Bacon’s original
He’s gone but his work’s immortalised him.
His ESB poster is awesome.
Still pissed the steelbook used the floating Darth Vader head in space instead. What a shame.
He used to be a frequent guest at a convention I would attend, I never really got a chance to speak with him.
Legend.
r/movieposterporn has amazing quality stuff to put on your walls.
Sort by; Top , of all time for the best classics.
When I first saw it I stared at the empire strikes back poster for hours. So many story details.
I didn’t even know he was sick!
… He was delicious.
I like it because it’s not blue *AND* orange.
Seriously, it’s everywhere these days.

RIP
Commas are the difference between the deceased crying on his death bed and his loved ones crying near his death bed.
Movie Posters designed with this much love and dedication as Roger Kastel does has sadly become a lost art.
Memories
He had a good run.
I never noticed before that the swimmer is nude
May his soul rest in peace.
