If I could ask my late Father anything it’d be “Why was this my elementary school backpack?”

Because it was FREE with Marlboro miles!!
As someone with shit loads of Marlboro swag thanks to my late father, the answer is because it’s high quality and free if you ingest enough poison.
My dad died for those bags. You can be damn sure I’ll use them.
I remember scrounging through the trashcan and getting discarded packs of Marlboro out to redeem the points, at 14yrs.
So you always knew he wasn’t just going to walk out on the family because YOU had the pack of cigarettes.
All I got was Joe Cool tshirt and a zippo. FYI, still have the zippo brand new in the container. Never been used. Gotta be worth, $35.
From 1994-2006 Marlboro had Marlboro Miles in every pack of your father smoked during that time they had a booklet where you could trade in these Marlboro mile and get things like zippos, bags, camping gear, etc. So he might have been low on money and got that to help with school gear. It’s a collectible item like coke products so don’t sell it if you don’t have to at least not yet
If I had to guess, he was racking up points by buying Marlboros, and spent them to get you a bag for school.
I wouldn’t be shocked if there are some kids out there toting a Zyn branded backpack to school…
Hahahahhhah, my old baseball bag!!!
Smoke up Johnny
Because he smoked a shitload of cigarettes. did you have the hammock too?
I had that bag, and a true backpack. My dad smoked three packs a day. I used the backpack through college. Outlasted all of those cheeseball Jansports.
My dad had a scam with the gas station guy. He’d fuel up his work truck and get a carton of Marlboros every time charged as gas to the company.
Same reason I had a Skoal one
Funny how they outlawed cigarette coupons. Not.
Because your father smoked a lot of Marlboros. Not gonna lie got me one of those Marlboro duffles when when I was a kid and still have it to this day as my main luggage.
Because it was free. Yeah, you get free stuff, but you have to die to get it, pretty much.
My mom still has so many Marlboro jackets and bags from using the miles. And they all stink like cigarettes.
I’m seeing a correlation between people’s “late fathers” accruing a lot of Marlboro Miles…
Because it was free
Used to get empty packs from the waitresses at the restaurant I bussed tables at. Was able to get a sweatshirt, a sleeping bag, and a really nice Swiss army wristwatch.
Took so many Marlboro miles to get this bag. My family didn’t smoke but boy did we collect cigarette packs on the road for years to get free stuff. My mom spent hours removing the branding.
Because your dad was cool.
Because he clipped and saved points to “earn” it.
You got the question wrong. Try asking your elementary school backpack why your father isn’t with us anymore.
My dad died on his 65th birthday 1 year after retirement. His last year was a lot of suffering.
We had a lot of Marlboro stuff. Like multiple duffle bags, chairs, etc. I still have some to remember him by.
I wish he could have met his grandkids instead. He always loved babies.
Gd why is this post so darn funny lmao
Kinda like the Crown Royal bag I kept my marbles in when I was a kid. It never occurred to me at the time that this might be odd.
Stuff was cool back in the day
Ah yes I remember picking out stuff from the Marlboro Mike’s catalog… Good memories. Dad used to smoke 2-3 cartoons a week. Had to cut back a few years ago and had now gone cold turkey for about a year.
He’d been saving those Marlboro Miles since he was a teenager.
I have a reversible, down vest with the Camel logo on one pocket. It’s 45 years old now and looks like new. It’s been mud soaked from riding dirt bikes, etc. The zipper works like the day I got it. I saved my uncle’s cigarette packs for a couple of months. Only cost me a stamp to mail them in.
Gave it to my son when he was in high school and he wore it until he outgrew it.
They don’t make em like they used to.
Because it was free!
90s elementary schools were wild back then
