Back then, only 2 years old, I’m thinkin he probably paid 4500-5500 for that thing.. Maybe a little more depending on whether or not it had the 455 HO in it or not.
Omg what a nice picture! I have a “77, my papaw got me the body for my high school graduation. Stepdad got me an Oldsmobile 455 for it. Still have it and added the flaming Phoenix on the hood. Every one of my girlfriends that ride with me say “Gosh dang these doors are heavy!” Old muscle cars are heavy lol
Also class of ’76 here. In 1978 I was driving my ’38 Chevy Fleetmaster Deluxe. It had been sitting in a barn for almost 40 years and was in great condition. When me and the band would pull up in that thing to play a gig at a bar, we felt like rock stars. Ha! I paid $750 for that sweet car.
That car is bad ass
Class of ’76 here…
My ride was a ’69 Barracuda.
Unfortunately, NO surviving pics!
18 years with a car..now that is winning.
Boss dad
Some people’s lives, man
Guy in my class late 70’s bought one after he won the lotto.
Didn’t he have a numberplate or is this the Batman-symbol?
18 year olds used to be able to afford some pretty cool cars. I wonder what his down payment was /s
Great pic.
I was driving a 1975 Pinto wagon with fake wood on the sides. Eat your hearts out.
I had a black 76 firebird formula
I usually think these pics are really douchey, but your dad seems cool.

My oldest sister had a red T-Top TransAm.
She also had a mullet, wore wranglers, and loved the ladies. And that car was a CHICK MAGNET.
This is just before dad went behind the trees and rubbed one out.

First thing I thought of here was the scene in Billy Madison, where he pulls up in the Trans Am and REO Speedwagon shirt.
That was the dream car

“Mowed lawns for a whole summer to get this baby”.
That is a stupid cool picture.
Life was just unfathomably cheaper in those days. We have a hard time even imagining the lifestyle that generation enjoyed.
Nice ride! I always loved Cameros, like this one, better than trans ams….
