  • Dick Clark is one of the most impressive people I’ve ever met.

I was working at an entry level job at an ad agency. We went to every event with free food, because our salaries were not high. We were supposed to be networking at the events, our bosses wanted to make sure we knew how to behave in public, so it was all good.

Dick Clark had a party to launch a new show and he invited a bunch of ad agency people. A co-worker and I were at the bar having a drink and Dick Clark walked up introduced himself and asked us about ourselves.

We told him where we worked and what we did. We were both surprised at how gracious and interested he was in two obvious nobodies. Over the next two or so hours, we saw him work the room, clearly charming everyone the way he did me and my co-worker.

We went up to say good bye to him when we left. Dick Clark remembered our first names, the agency where we worked and what we’d been drinking. The most impressive thing I’ve ever seen a person do.
