As a dad raised by an awesome mom costume maker, I decided to keep up the tradition with my boys!

But mom, we want to dress like hookers!
Neee
We always did super-elaborate handmade costumes too, and I did that with me own kids and now grandsons! I usually start in June….!
What did you find for the chainmail? I have some silver, big hole netting, but not this big!
I once made 2 samari costumes….the front and back of the chest piece were the silver disks from orange juice cans. I had a about 100. I printed out a Japanese symbol for each disk and modpodged them on, one ‘vest’ in a blue design and one in red. Then punch 4 holes in each lid to stitch rows together of faux leather fabric. Did the shoulder armour, the headreddes/hat thing, the skirt part, pants/kimono top underneath. It was great! Wish I had a pic.
Also–egyptians–so FUN! This one was for warmer weather; they lived in Hawaii at the time. Sawed the heads off of toy snakes for the headdresses, painted gold….
