Oh no! I’m so glad he beat it, he’s a treasure.
I’ve tried to work on not being afraid of dying, and sometimes I’m smug enough to think I’m getting a handle on it. All it takes is some food poisoning from Mexico where I actually feel like I’m dying and I really wonder how I could have every felt so bold in the past.
Sam Neill alway struck me as someone who was a really good guy behind the scenes in real life.

> “I know I’ve got it, but I’m not really interested in it,” Neill, 76, told Australian Story. “It’s out of my control. If you can’t control it, don’t get into it.”
> Rather than focus on his diagnosis, Neill is keeping busy with plenty of activities, including turning his vineyards organic, making his winery carbon-neutral, and writing a memoir for his grandchildren so that they have “a sense of me.” “It would be great for them to have some of my stories,” he told Australian Story. “I mightn’t be here in a month or two.”
> Despite that grim possibility, Neill said he isn’t “remotely afraid” of the prospect of death, though dying would be “annoying.”
Been a huge fan of his ever since he played Brian de Bois-Guilbert in Ivanhoe. I might recommend it but it’s probably quaint as the production is greater than 40 years old…However it has Olivia Hussey as well as John Rhys-Davies.
Make of that as you will.
His autobiography came out not too long ago, and he reads the audiobook version as well. Worth checking out if you enjoy him and his work!
He has an amazing attitude about his health… Taking it as it comes, working through his illness.
He also asked his fans NOT to cry, pity or worry about him, bc he will beat this. I hope he’s right.
TIL Sam Neil’s an aussie.
