Great great grandpa. He was born in 1848. His sisters beside him. He lived until 1938. Any guesses on the age of this photo?

Polk County, TN. I think living to 90 in that time period is a crazy feat! Also, my dad has Cherokee blood. Do they resemble Cherokee traits?
You’ll be able to narrow it down by searching the car. Begin around 1920 for sedans/coupes, watch for the wooden wheels.
EDIT: Look at mid-20’s Packard with the passenger side mirror rarity, and that little access door.
Just by his age in the photo, he is certainly over 60. More like 70. Based on his birth year, that would put it around 1910/1920s. Figuring out what vehicle that is and when it was produced would narrow it down as well.
100 years
An old trick I used when I did research work for the historical society was to id the newest car and add 3 years..
So, the car is a Ford Model A Victoria two-door coupe, but the wheels are wrong. They are from a Ford truck. So I’m guessing they had this car for a little while, and then adapted it with better wheels for living the farm life? Maybe?
This was a short run of vehicles, from 1927-1931, and this one doesn’t look new… neither do he or his sisters.
So if he passed in 1938, my guess is this was close to the end of his life… maybe 1933-1938?
Nailing down the exact wheels might narrow it down a bit further, but “mid-1930s” is a solid guess. Couldn’t be before 1927 or after 1938.
I’m gonna say 100.
Early 30’s considering the Ford Model A.
20s-30s
Love the angular features on all of them, classic strength
I’d say late a few years before his death! Very cool photo.
I am going to say he is in his mid 80s
Early to mid 30s based on the car.
Car is from right around 1930, plus or minus 2-3 years.
Stuff like this makes the 1700s feel that much closer….then the 1600s. Obvious? Yes. Trippy? Also yes.
He looks 80 to me, but if he lived to 90, he might be 85, so 1933.
Given how people seemed to age back then, I’m going to guess he and his sisters were in their late teens.

Well, unless your family has some real non-traditional ideas about what to do with dead bodies, and it’s currently 2023 and he knocked off in 1938, I’m gonna say it’s at least 85 years old.
“Wow, that picture’s gotta be at least 85 years old!”
“No, it’s only 75. Grandpa really loved that car, though, so we pull him out once a year and everybody takes pictures next to him. They got the same people who did Lenin to do him. Cost a fortune, but he still looks as good today as he did on the day he died.”
Notice how low they are sitting to the ground. Shows good hip movement/flexibility to be able to squat that low to pose for a photo
what kind of car is that?
looks like a 1937 based on the wood wheels , 77 years ago maybe?
1918 to 1925
The photo is at least 7 years old. Maybe more.
