Are there rules against them being tackled while they are doing this? Number 3 avoids interfering, which totally makes sense to avoid serious injuries. Is this out of courtesy or prescribed by the rules?
I’m definitely not downplaying how cool this is – but a lot of people would be surprised at how easy it is to lift someone over their head, as long as the person being lifted understands how to *be* lifted.
As cool as this is, what’s the reason for lifting the other player up to catch the ball? There were no other red team players nearby, it seems as though you could just have waited and caught the ball normally…?
Should be synced with Jennifer Warnes – (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life
Held him a little longer than necessary, no? Maybe do a little spin next time?
edit: Overall, nice to see guys conformable enough in their masculinity to hold each other like this. 7/10.
The Beast Mtawarira (also from South Africa) pulled off a similar lift support to a greater extent a while back.

This is most likely sevens and the dude doing the lifting is Werner Kok – an absolute legend in SA 7s.
Also go Fiji! Uncle Jerry is timeless!

Werner Kok has also knocked an oncoming tackler on his back without taking a step.

Props also to number 3, who looked ready to catch the falling player once he realised what was happening.
I remember the first when I saw Beast do itππ

Rugby is the greatest sport in the world imo. If you’re not watching the World Cup, you should be! Insanely awesome.
The opposing player: **I’ll wait until he’s back on his feet before I tackle him to the ground**
This is something that they train, and do typically quite a lot in a game when they are doing line-outs. It’s pretty cool, but also kind of common.
