I’ve been expanding my gaming journey with new series.
Life is strange, Like a Dragon, Pokemon Sword/Shield, and Mario and Rabbids are some of my new favorite additions.
I only begun to heard Fatal Frame from her appearance in Smash Ultimate as an assist trophy. The camera mechanic looks interesting!
What are some things I can expect from these series? Is it worth buying? Maybe just a rental?

If you can handle it, it’s great.
Yes.
YES
I thought it would be kind of a lame Resident Evil or Silent Hill ripoff, but I got the first one for $5. I was incredibly pleased to be proven so wrong!
Oh for sure if you can handle the tank controls and are willing to accept some of the mechanics and graphics will feel a bit dated for obvious reasons
Yes!
Crimson butterfly has stuck with me for decades. Imo Maiden of blackwater isn’t as good, but still a very creepy game with a fascinating, tragic story
1-3 is. Personally don’t think Maiden of Black Water is good, and have yet to play Lunar Eclipse.
Definitely. It’s one of the scariest series out there. I remember playing the second one and one of the ghost scenes my mum told me i shouldn’t play that, turn it off with a serious concerned look on her face lol.
The first and the second titles are great.
The series peaked with 2, but yes they are pretty solid.
Hell yeah. Proper horror games that actually focus on the horror rather than loading you up with guns and melee weapons.
1, 2 (PS2 is the better version) and 4 DEFINITELY, some of the best games in the genre. 3 is just okayish und 5 is awful, evade it. If you just want to play one of them 2 or 4 are the way to go.
For me, Fatal Frame 2 was the best
The rest were just meh
It’s quite spooky
Oh my lord yes.
They’re not too hard to get running through *certain* methods on pc and in my experience physical copies aren’t too hard to find either.
If you like these you should also play Haunting Ground!
Story wise and setting its great, even the graphics still hold up rather well in my opinion, its gameplay however REALLY has not aged well at all.
Very stubborn controls and the ‘fights’ suffer because of it, you also feel like there’s a lot of backtracking involved with it as well.
If you can get past how out of place the main characters look in the world of the game, there is some enjoyment to be had.
its VERY scary, and worth If you like goofy scenarios
Absolutely. In my personal oppinion Fatal Frame 2 is one of the best games ever made
It is amazing, one of the best horror games out there.
Yes, unless you can’t handle scary stuff
The first and second game are very scary. I think the first game is scarier, the ghosts look absolutely terrifying and you can run out of film (and WILL if you panic). The second one has a cool story and even hidden side stuff to find while you’re roaming the village (at least in the remastered Wii version).
The third one was kinda meh on the spook factor and it gets repetitive, the rest of the games are too predictable with the scares mostly being cutscenes.
I recommend Fatal Frame 1+2, you can skip the rest. Apart from that, I also recommend Song of Horror because not enough people know this game and it’s an absolutely great horror experience.
I have only played the first one and just from that I can say yes
Yes! I’ve only played the first 3 games and they’re still scary.
