Despite that you probably haven’t heard of him, he was a headliner and even got the first standing ovation of the festival! He was so quickly forgotten thereafter that he was even left out of the Woodstock documentary AND the memorial plaque listing performers.
“I was involved in the two most famous counterculture events of the 60’s, “Hair” and Woodstock 1969. That and a token will get you on the New York subway! “

Yep, that tracks.
“Just Walk Away Reneé, You won’t see me follow you back home”.
I loved that song so much in the 1960s!
It doesn’t get any more epic than this
What was his band and do you have any of his memorabilia?
Amazing voice!
Sampling him on YouTube Music. I like it, it’s a shame he didn’t get his big break.
Thanks for posting.
I love his songs Jennifer and when it’s over. Beautiful voice

Groovy!!!!
So cool! Did Jim Marshall take the photo?
Bert is the reason I exist. He was playing bars in Albany, NY and my parents both happened to befriend him. He eventually introduced them to each other.
His cover of America is better than Simon and Garfunkels.
Far out!
Very cool.
And he was in Kaptain Kool and the Kongs!
Much better than the terrible uncle, Bart Summer.
Groovy cat!
