Starcraft was a great game, but man, I could never fully get into it due to Age of Empires. Something about AoE had a hook to it that Starcraft never did for me.
First bulid (6 pool), that allows me to win of petite maps.
Emotions of winning with a real person, what a thrill!
I spent the best gaming years with Starcraft. Nights at internet cafes, days at internet cafes.

I remember kazaa where you could download VOD’s from korean league. Before 1.07 there was no replay files, so because of Fog of War, you couldn’t learn from better players. There was no streams besides maybe WCG as well. You coukdn’t copy their builds if they didn’t share it at some niche website. With those VODs you could try to emulate the best. What a game, what a great times.
Sometimes I play Terran’s theme and dude… I remember thinking back then “the future is coming” and was an awesome feeling. Does anyone have a similar nostalgic feeling with these sound tracks?
Starcraft is the very first game I remember ever playing.
I’m sure I played games before this, but this is the earliest one that stuck in my memory.
Still replay it several times a year to this day.
I had the Terran box (3 different PC game boxes were available), the package came with a guide (50+ pages of story, unit guide, art by Samwise Didier etc). One copy of the game can be installed (“spawn”) on other PCs so you can play LAN with only one copy.
To this day you can play this game and enjoy it with very few bugs.
RiP old Blizzard. Make me sad thinking how much they really poured their soul into their IP and for the fans back in the day.

This screen triggers some hard core memories of all night sleep overs playing UMS and bgh fast money until we were literally falling asleep on our keyboards.
Starcraft and Age of Empires 2 were at the time the bests RTS games you could play.
Really wish I had saved the installers from bnet before they pulled them for this and warcraft.
if i would be in private i´s start rubbing one :))
i really don´t understand how some genres go down into limbo even though they have a dedicated audience…

Anyone remember Golemz or Sunken Defense? I liked those Use Map Settings game as much as the base game.

Amazing 👏
So good. The music especially. Id like **Starcraft 3** and **Warcraft 4** now pls.
We are further from the release of SC2 than the time between SC1 and SC2
I remember how incredible 1998 was for gaming. So many masterpieces came out that year.
I remember I waited for the shop open when Brood War came out. I sunk so many hours into SC and AoE2.
Kids nowadays don’t know the fear of an incoming Zerg Rush.
I play through SC – BW campaign at least once every 2-3 years or so, it is always on my computer. I dont do this for SC2 for some reason.
Will never see Blizzard hit those heights when it comes to quality again

It’s a toss up between StarCraft, Warcraft II, and Dawn of War.
