Honestly, I cannot think of another picture of a native American having facial hair other than what I saw in this video.
They can grow facial hair but it is not thick and full like a beard. His parents were half correct.
I mean… hes not far off. Some ethnicities dont grow facial hair like other ethnicities. Southeast asian and native american men arent putting on bushy beards at the age of 19 like some northern European or middle eastern men.
Your hair type is genetic.
Wait. That’s not true?
Normally wouldn’t say anything about getting an idiom wrong, but in this case I cannot help but point out that it’s a “bald-faced lie”
Well they are distantly related to East Asians, and East Asians also have sparse facial hair. But they do have it. Just not the giant fuck you beards the germanics can grow.
Got a Blackfoot buddy who’s beard can get pretty impressive.
Mama said alligators are ornery because they got all them teeth but no toothbrush.
I can’t grow enough facial hair to grow a beard or mustache that doesn’t look ridiculous. Sure I can grow some facial hair, I still have to shave every day or every other day. Sounds like the class was deliberately misinterpreting the claim in order to sound offended
I mean there is some truth to is just like all those, many Native Americans cannot grow much or any facial hair, black people tend to be more athletic, middle easterners can control sand, east asians can transform into giant mechas, white people are just lizards with humanoid masks on.
He said it was a “bold-faced lie”, which is incorrect. Bald-faced lie would have been correct and much more appropriate.
I’m part Indian (like an 8th or smtn) and can confirm that I can’t grow a full beard. I could grow a moustache or a goatee but if I try for a goatee the sides don’t ever connect. Also my sideburns are patchy near my jaw
My momma said the alligators are so ornery because they got all them teeth but no toothbrush.
<looks in mirror>
<looks at ancestors old photos>
<sus eyes>
Yup we grow facial hair in the AK.
This isn’t a lie…. lmao. At least not 100%. There are jokes in our community about men not being able to grow a beard. For a lot of us, our ability to grow any facial hair comes from mixed heritage. The white guys in my family can grow facial hair no problem. Most of my Native relatives (including myself) can’t. I only have to shave my face every few days. Most people don’t notice unless I go 3 weeks without shaving. It’s also not just facial hair. I have like 0 upper body hair too. I’m pretty sure there are some other ethnicities like this too.
My personal joke for it:
“It takes me 3 days to grow a 5 o’clock shadow, even my beard is on Indian time.”
I was always told this as well. My father apparently had a quite a bit of Native American blood, my mother as well. Neither my brother nor I can grow a full beard, just goatee. Additionally, my father, brother, and I did not/do not have hairy chests.
We were always told growing up it was due to our Native American lineage…
Navajo (mother’s side) and Shoshone of the Sioux Nation (father’s side) of anyone was wondering.
Ironically the correct term is bald-faced lie.
The real joke is that a bald-faced lie refers to a lie that is obvious, unambiguous and readily apparent. Which means old mate should have known from the outset that the bald face claim was bullshit.
Not discramatory but my dad led me to be souvenir was pronounced silver-near all my life. I don’t think I ever had to type it out by the time I was in freshman year and was relentlessly mocked as I told my hall mate about how I got a silvenear from my dad
I just hate these type of video edits.
My my my momma said dat alligatas is ornery cuz dey got all dem teeth, but no toothbrush.
As a full blood Ojibwe I can confirm there is some truth to this. It’s not that we can’t grow facial hair it’s just we can’t grow full beards. If I go without shaving I get a mustache and a little on my chin that’s about it lol
My ex husband Sioux. Goatee only. My friend Mohawk. No facial hair at all.
Yeah nah mate there’s truth to that
Dude, Mohawk here.. and while we can grow facial hair we are largely body hair less.. couple of my brothers never grew any chest hair at all.. like all stereotypes, theyre usually rooted in some truth.
Native here, we get some hair, but it’s sparse and scraggly. Most of our body hair is thin tbh. Top of the head hair grows like wild though.
Well thats a good point – some ethnicities – like most of Asians, cant grow facial hair. Its not that outrageous claim. Plus I never saw an Indian with facial hair – and how would they even shave?
“mama said alligators are arniry cause they got all them teeth and no tooth brush”
Have a lot of native friends and they don’t have much hair on their bodies. But some def have a little facial hair, not much
They kind of can’t tho… maybe some, but it’s definitely a lot less. Your parents weren’t completely wrong
As someone with a lot of Mexican and Native American ancestry, I can confirm this is true in my case. I’m in my 40s and I’ve never been able to grow a decent mustache, goatee, beard, nothin.
I am blessed with a completely full head of black hair that hasn’t started to grey yet, but I could probably let my facial hair grow for over a year and still not have a full mustache that most guys can grow in a month.
As a native. My family doesn’t grow a lot of body hair in general. Women and men in my family.
A guy I worked thought I was joking when I said I got a tan over the weekend. He didn’t think black people could tan.
I’ve heard from a few sources that most Asian women don’t shave their legs cause they have basically no leg hair.
Hilarious. 😐
Shitass…
It’s true. They get a bit but not much. It goes for body hair too. Indigenous kids I went to school with laughed at our hairy arms.
As a native I can confirm that the men mostly can’t grow facial hair beyond scraggly goatees and sparse mustaches. Not that they can’t grow facial hair so much as its relatively common that they can’t grow much.
We can grow facial hair, just not good.
Buddies in the military who were native never had to shave but maybe once every few months to get some stragglers
It’s true. I’m Choctaw and I can’t grow one, and no one in my family can and I’ve never seen anyone with facial hair at festivals and on the rez. It can be done, but it’s not great. I’ve got very little body hair and even my eyebrows aren’t thick, but what is thick is my long hair on my head.
Hey it’s my buddy Wes! I’m just casually scrolling and see him.. neat.
Lol it is true. We cannot grow facial hair, I mean we can grow some facial hair but it is never full.
Although, have you ever seen a bald native american?
I’m Navajo and I can only grow very patchy thing on my chin. Wouldn’t call it a beard. And like a few whispy hairs on my lip. And no chest hair at all.
I love that all us Natives came out in force to confirm our lack of facial hair. Only reason I can grow a mustache and goatee is because my mom is 100% German. I can not grow sideburns or neck hair, and my mustache and goatee will never connect.
