I remember reading about his older brother. AS developed severe self-esteem problems due to his father’s perceived favoritism towards his older brother…and I can see why the dude looks like Chris Hemsworth..but AS still loved his brother. Unfortunately, MS died in a car crash just a few years later. AS said one of the saddest moments in his life was when he realized he couldn’t remember what Meinhard’s voice sounded like (and they had no recordings…). Later, he would support Meinhard’s son’s education, help him immigrate to the US and receive dual Austrian/US citizenship, something which few Austrians are permitted to have(including Arnold, of course…)
Arnold has a long history of “Psyching Out” his opponents in Sports and even as an Actor. From this picture it looks like Meinhard is one of the few people who could “Psyche Out” Arnold. Shame about (edit: driving drunk, he could have killed others, and it’s a shame he didn’t have enough self confidence to hand someone else the keys).
My uncle’s family was friends with his family. When his brother died, Arnold asked my uncle and his mother to take care of his grave. To thank my uncle Arnie actually sent him actual signed film from the movie “Conan der Barbar”.
My uncle has a ton of letters between them and I always wondered why. Just a few years ago he told me this story while we were doing something in the garden.
I don’t know if I am supposed to tell everyone on here because it’s probably very personal, but I thought it was really interesting.
UPDATE:
So I asked my uncle about this and he actually doesn’t remember it as being a car but a motorcycle accident. Furthermore he told me that he helped to maintain Arnold’s brother’s grave for a few summers as it was right next to his grandpa’s burying place.
Apparently the grave was later on dissolved and moved to an undisclosed location (he told me where it was, but for privacy sake I won’t say on here).
That’s clearly Arnold from the “Pumping Iron” era, and not Arnold’s brother, who had been dead for some time by then. There are very few pictures of Meinhard on the internet, which is why this is believable to people.
Meinhard and Arnold. Those are some badass names. (though I’ll admit I probably only associate the name Arnold with tough germanic people because of him)
We are Hans and Franz…

In 1971, Meinhard was driving while drunk, crashed into a pole and was killed instantly.
“Little Brother, I do not understand. You lift and lift and lift, yet you do not grow.”
TIL. Arnold has a brother.
Meinhard is a tough name to live up to
Loved him in Die Hard
Four years before Meinhard’s death
Meins hard now too.
… and then you look up Arnold Schwarzenegger’s height (6’2”) and big bro towering over him like a giraffe.
The short dumpy one became a film star.
There’s hope for me yet.
1967? Damn, was there ever a time when Arnie wasn’t an adult? lol
No homo but That dude is beautiful
And Arnold is 6’2 so he must at least 6’4
That looks like it’s in the seventies. No way Arnold was this big in 1967

Is that Carl from Die Hard?
Dude doesn’t look like known pictures of Meinhard, starting with the hair color. Just saying.
I am quite sure this is not Meinhard. Meinhard had dark short hair. And he kinda looked like Arnold. You could see they were brothers.

Never knew he had a brother. Bloody good looking too!
We posting fake pictures now? Pathetic.

That’s NOT Meinhard Schwarzenegger.
Why is Arnold dressed up as princess Leia

Meinhard, hehard, the whole familyhard
Arnold was thick
I thought he had a twin that was really short
In this photo, Arnold looks like a little brother with all the little brother insecurities.
Meinhard looks like the terrorist Karl from Die Hard!
I thought Danny De Vitto was his brother
Arnolds brother looks very similar to one of the terrorists that seized the Nakatomi Building on Christmas eve back in the 80s.
