16 years later and I honestly don’t think there has been a video game commercial better than this. The Halo “Believe” campaign was something special.

The Dead Island trailer made quite a bit of a splash when it came out.
It was also completely misleading as to the nature of the game, but oh well.
The ODST live action was my favorite
If I remember there was an interactive map of this too, not sure if you’d be able to access it anywhere.
Legendary
I loved halo 3… That was a lot of imagery for a scene not even in the game! Lol
God I remember getting home from middle school and freaking the fuck out that I could finally play Halo 3. Man that was such a fun time for gaming.
The other halo 3 commercial was great too. The one with kids looking up at the stars.
The Gears of War Mad World trailer has always stuck out to me. I knew I was buying it when I saw it.
Halo ads were so good. This one still gets me all emotional.
bro.. halo 3/odst & halo reach’s marketing campaign were, in my opinion, peak perfect execution.
No matter how much education, resources, and manpower you may have, to produce art with true soul requires very little.
Look what emotions are invoked by decent models and camerawork, along with that messianic music score.
this looks like it was made this year ngl.
My favourite is [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVc4Ti_9_To) interview with a headless Kamikaze
no one seems to be mentioning this one for bullet storm, obviously a parody

Yeah ive never seen a better marketing campaign since.
Theres a few moments i absolutely love in this series of commercials…
1. The old guy feeling uncomfortable holding an alien weapon.. amazing acting.
2. How they mention the monument is hand made without aid of machines, to exact specifications. And scanning in the faces of each soldier from archive records.. only the people there knew it better.
3. “Hunted” – When they ask the veteran if they can close the lights to get a feel for how it was that night they hunkered down and prayed for their lives.. How that actor pauses momentarily and freezes up at the thought of being in the dark again. “Okay. Alright” in a hoarse voice… then goes into whispers as if by instinct.. trting to keep his voice down.. Amazing acting and almost real portrayal of ptsd.
4. Gravesite – “No spartan could be listed as KIA, They could only be listed as MIA, missing. So it could be said, that no spartan was ever killed in combat.”
another amazing actor.. Amazing, inspiring line.
The whole thing was so believable. And so well done.

One of the best ad campaigns ever indeed and that Chopin score…
Its perfection. Not even that big a halo fan but it was great, so is the live action ODST
Holy shit how have I never seen this. Gave me chills.
Yeah that one was extremely well done.
I still get chills.
Halo wars 2 still has my favorite trailer. With cutter and Atriox slowly walking towards each other as their troops fight along side them, only to meet right as their forces clash with this somber music in the background.
This was such an amazing ad that I’d get goosebumps watching this! I also really enjoyed the other commercials that kind of ran in tandem with this, the older men in different locations, like a museum showing off human and enemy weapons or a dark forest discussing how they had to “go dark” for hours at a time, and just generally talking about their time in the war and about how things would’ve been different had it not been for the chief.
Early to mid Xbox 360 gen was when Xbox was at its best imo then around when Kinect happened it all started to fall apart and they’re still trying to pickup the pieces
The Halo era of gaming and commercials were absolutely something else. I also remember Gears of War commercials being pretty decent, too.
I never had an Xbox growing up so I missed the hype of all these trailers.
To me, I still get goosebumps every time I see the assassin’s creed revelations E3 trailer. Ezio looking to his right and seeing Altair is so fucking beautiful and powerful.
Man, assassin’s creed really was amazing.
Won’t lie, this is the reason I started listening to classical style music. Thanks for the nostalgia
I remember downloading this and the gears one to my xbox 360 and playing on a rare HDTV my friend had at the time ( I still ran my 360 on a crt) and being mind blown.
The last great Halo game 🥲
Amazing. Those left 4 dead videos on tv prior to launch gave me chills as well back in the day.
I might be getting my details wrong but I think the anticipation of Halo 3’s release may have been the first time a video games launch was a massive pop cultural event (at least certainly for the 2000s)….from the excellent ad campaigns, midnight launches, products tie-in with Mountain Dew and Pontiac. It was one of the biggest stories of 2007.
Personally speaking, and I might be a bit biased as a fan, even though other games had similar marketing campaigns and pre-launch hype ( maybe even more) ….none have stuck out in my mind as much as Halo 3’s imo.
This introduced me to Chopin. Now a lifelong love.

Watch with subtitles
Right in the feels.
It still gets me. Perfect.
Totally forgot about this, and getting goosebumps. Halo 3 was such a *phenomenal* game.
In my 40s and there’s been some great commercials over the years. But for hitting in the feels, it’s always been the live action Prototype 2 trailer for me:

And already mentioned, the Dead Island ‘reverse’ commercial was pretty amazing.
For just overall awesomeness was one of the main Breath of the Wild trailers. So many people were just all smiles when they dropped that. 🙂
Halo 3 had the best commercials and marketing for a video game ever and nothing comes close.
Wow this took me back to the 360 instantly.
You really had to be there it was such an experience. Me and my friend rented halo 3 after we both got 360s for Christmas and pulled an all nighter playing the campaign.
Hard to believe it was as long ago as it was but I’ll never forget the people I met and the games we played. Could never get that 50 but was 45 in lone wolf’s and made super cool maps in forge. Man what a time.
HALO was something special. Those were simpler times. Better days? Maybe not. But simpler.
I still love it, but after Arby n the Chief I kinda got it ruined for me.
“H4ll0 I 4m M4st3r Ch13F lololololol”
All the H3 commercials where awesome. Even thr mini docs for it where awesome!
This trailer is absolutely iconic.
I’d vote for this one to be the best.

Everything about its epic and it’s still fun to watch
Halo 3 + ODST + Reach live-action trailers were the best. What a fcking era it was.
So good
Me3 take earth back trailer used to fuel my nightmares.
That poor kid who was playing in the sunflower field and a reaper descends in front of her.

Gears of War. Mad world trailer is pinnacle of this time

My favourite thing about the whole Halo franchise was the mini series with anna Popplewell, thought this was really well done along with the the anime’s. Thought the games were pretty average simply because console specs were so poor at the time for fps games at the time of release.
