This looks better than movies with 3x the budget. Damn good call on Edwards’ part to distance himself from big budget Hollywood shit and return to his more indie-minded roots, this guy knows what he’s doing. If it becomes a hit, he should start his own production company like James Cameron did with Lightstorm, basically do whatever he wants and only need to seek distribution.
Looks super creative but hope the plot doesn’t boil down to another: Guy escorts kid who is meant to be exploited/destroyed and he changes his mind and saves them and fights off his former company/team/friends
A lot of people are gushing here, but I do think this looks very interesting, and I am curious to see it, definitely will try to see this in IMAX. It’s nice to see an original biggish buget sci-fi movie once in a while these days.
It looks good, and I hope it’s good. What will determine my enjoyment or not will be if they include the Beirut explosion clip. I just think it’s disrespectful, and the whole movie will lose my respect if they include it.
JDW just doesn’t have the screen presence or charisma to turn this sf flick into a profitable movie. If it were someone else, a young Denzel or Cruise like in Edge of Tomorrow then it probably would become a decent hit.
I think this looks great. I mean the trailer *does* look a little generic but it just looks good. I really liked Monsters and thought there was more to that film than the premise might suggest so I’m not too worried about it being generic yet. I mean in some senses I feel like this is the kind of trailer the sub is regularly asking for – it’s basically just the premise, I don’t really see it spoiling twists or anything.
Nope. Not gonna watch 2nd or final trailers anymore.
I knew after the first trailer I wanted to see it and any further trailer watching is just gonna make me mad when they reveal important plot details or worse.
Seen too many trailers where halfway through I’m thinking, “I dont even need to see this movie anymore.” Because they lay out the entire story in 120 seconds. Who even likes those trailers?
This trailer is WAY better than the previous ones with the tired-ass Aerosmith song. However I’d be worried that this is too little, too late in terms of impacting a theatrical audience. I’ll still be there opening weekend though 🙂
This is giving Cloud Atlas Trailer vibes. Amazing visuals, leaving some open questions if it film with manage to stitch the visuals together in a satisfying narrative form. I’ll wait for the reviews.
It looks soo good. That his movie’s budget doesn’t go over $100 million is bonkers.
I *hope* its good , I’ve been burnt too many times by movies where all of the good stuff in the trailer and everything else is a drag.
I really really hope this turns out good

Zimmer did it again. Looks absolutely gorgeous.

From the Director of Rogue One means I’ll check it out
Gareth Edwards has done Monsters, Godzilla (2014) and most of his groundwork was intact for Rogue One.
Than you have amazing looks effects and cgi, Zimmer scoring the film and a relevant albeit somewhat unoriginal concept.
If the writing for this is good and the acting showcases a strong script I see this being a sleeper hit
Why am I having a hard time getting excited for an original property?

Hope they remove the nuke footage
Visually incredible and equally uninteresting plotwise 🙁 I hoped that new trailers would add something to look forward too, but no.
Excited 🔥

This movie looks like it will either be amazing or complete shit, no middle ground
Praying it’s more than just pretty hi-tech visuals. Gareth Edwards big swing to the fences.
Does anyone know where to find an uncompressed high-bitrate (4K?) version of this trailer?
I know I’ve heard this score used in another trailer, can someone help me jog my memory where else it was from???
It looks soulless

We can’t seem to write other kinds of stories with robots.

– 2 cups Rogue One
– 1 cup Ai
– 3 tbsp Oblivion
– 3 tbsp District 9
– Blade Runner to taste

Visually stunning. Plot looks cliche and predictable.
I sure hope Simon Stalenhag is getting all the money for this.
