Let’s Talk About: Ghosts (2021) Review

  • I watched season 1 of the US version, not knowing it was a remake, then out of curiosity watched the UK version after finding out.

I was tickled by the similarities and differences between the two & I enjoyed both on their own merits.

I did end up preferring the UK version a tad bit more. Maybe because they were a bit more edgy with the jokes.

Although I was bummed that the UK version only had 6 episodes per season (plus specials).

When the US version of season 2 came out I got way more interested in all the characters. Even though I was invested by the end of season 1, it felt like the US version truly hit its stride by season 2.

At the present moment, I enjoy both UK & US versions about the same, especially now that they both feel different to me.

Iโ€™m glad we have two sets of โ€œGhostsโ€.

  • I loved the original UK version and then heard about this and immediately thought “oh good, another shitty US remake” but I love me some Rose McIver so I gave it a shot and I’m glad I did. Yes, the basic premise is the same, because how else would they have gotten to the house and her suddenly be able to see ghosts? I feel like they could’ve been a tad different with Pete, Hettie and Isaac and maybe Trevor but they’re far enough that the comparison doesn’t really go beyond the basic character outline.

With the UK version ending, I hope the US version lives on for a while.

  • I’ve been watching every episode (of the US one) since it first aired. I like it for the most part and I’ll probably continue to watch it as long as new ep.s air; but if it gets canceled for whatever reason, it wouldn’t bother me much.
