Due to suffering general FF burnout after FFX, I skipped this when it came out and only just now picked it up.

I was aware that it was set in Ivalice, but wasn’t prepared for how much the character design would remind me of FFT (which i enjoyed a great deal) and Vagrant Story. (which is one of my favorite PS1 era RPGs) The political tone of the story so far is also reminiscent of the two aforementioned games. (with FFT leaning more heavily into politics while VS had it more in the background)
I was also surprised to see some concepts and design choices later appearing in FFXIV:ARR.
As a bonus I literally know nothing about the game aside from that it had bunny girls and semi-programable auto-combat.
Gr8 game
Still my favourite FF
What is “this”?
DONT BELIEVE ONDOR’S LIES
It’s a good game!
Not my favorite FF, but a solid game.
This game’s soundtrack was absolutely incredible.
You didn’t miss much. For starters, 90% of the characters are superfluous to the main story, and I’m only being slightly hyperbolic. And if you use spears, be careful which treasure chests you open for what can genuinely only be described as “because fuck you, that’s why.”
As much as I love FF, XII was the only one I just could not get into. I progressed pretty far into the game but I just can’t bring myself to finish it.
I still have PTSD with that game. Absolutely loved it but then got stuck on a level ( on an airship I think) where the save point was really far away from the boss and I didn’t have an earlier save to go back and grind on. Ended giving up on it because of that level. Great game!
One of the best FFs. People really sleep on it but I thought it did a great job of building a compelling world. Soundtrack is a banger too.
Don’t feel bad. I refused to play any ff game since 13 was coming out at the time and I heard terrible things. Well about a few years ago I just said screw it and hopped right into 10 and after playing a few more I can safely say it’s best imo. You’re gonna have a blast and don’t get lost in blitzball
I loved the world and the combat but the story was painfully slow and uninteresting. I have never finished it. I have tried a few times. I get to the sand sea area and it just goes on and on and on and I quit.
Too bad because the art style is one of my favorites and the combat with “gambits” was innovative.
The last ff game that felt like a ff game imo
Oh man. Enjoy the ride
Loving this game, and I haven’t even started it. Somehow, I became obsessed with the trial mode immediately, and I’m on level 35 before even picking up Penelo. Gonna see how far I can go and then probably start again fresh to actually play the game.
