Gifted my wife on our wedding night, two front row tickets to see Phil at the NEC, Birmingham in around 1996 (could be a bit out). After we drank some champagne in the bridal suite and she took out nearly sixty hair clips (from her hair-do guys), as I waited for the night of my life.
She be kindly beckond me over and literally yelled at me, “NOW YOU CAN FUCK IN ME IN THE ASS”.
And so a loving loving relationship was born. After much training, my beautiful wife could sign cheques, to me, with a pen(s) sticking outta her ass. God, I miss her (sob).
This song is vanilla extract
It’s weird to see Phil singing with someone else on the drums
I wonder if he originally performed this in a Stu-stu-studio?
Why does Phil Collins use corduroy condoms?
For that groovy kind of love
Back when people succeeded based on talent not looks.
Do you like Phil Collins? I’ve been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn’t understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins’ presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group’s undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.
Christy, take off your robe.
Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument.
Sabrina, remove your dress.
In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism.
Sabrina, why don’t you, uh, dance a little.
Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I’ve heard in rock.
Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole.
Phil Collins’ solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds.
Sabrina, don’t just stare at it, eat it.
But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
1999.
Saw him one last time in Philly a year are so ago….. the passing of an era
Growing up, you can’t imagine certain people ever making you feel old and nostalgic.
And then before you know it, there you are.
Poor Phil. Shame about his health.
I was at a Japanese restaurant a few days ago and this song came on. The guy who rolled my sushi and my waiter immediately started belting out this song together and it was kind of adorable.
That must have been on the show “Benissimo”.
Phil did that for us. He didn’t have to go that hard, but he did.
The song was for disneys tarzan back in 1999 so almost the early 2000, i had the privalige of seeing it in cinema
An absolutely all time banger
The whole Tarzan soundtrack album is beautiful. It was my grandpas favorite cd to listen to when I was a kid. Of course he skipped some of the songs like Trashin’ The Camp, but I often fell asleep to this song/soundtrack at his house. Strangers Like Me is my second favorite Tom Collins song ever, this one being the first.
First concert I went to as a kid was Genesis with two drummers – Chris Stewart and Phil Collins, in the mid-70s. There were two drum kits on the stage. My seat was in the balcony above the back of the stage. During one song, there were purple lights showing up thru the drums from underneath, and yellow lights from above. It was so cool watching two drummers playing in sync. At one point in the song, all the lights went out and they were playing with glow-in-the-dark drumsticks.
What’s the ratio of nature vs nurture with an entertainer like Phil Collins? Obviously he’s naturally talented but his singing voice is so unique. Is that something he had to work on or is it just 100% naturally gifted?
Timeless. The opening 20 seconds give me chills. Pure talent from Phill Collins
Trey Parker is seething right now
This song is fucking epic when you’re on molly or tripping. Just happy happy tears.
Phil Collins not behind a drum kit isn’t right.
I don’t why but I can’t listen to this song without tears in my eyes, not crying, but with tears.
I don’t even remember the movie, what the fuck is this song doing to me?
An extremely talented artist. I love a lot of his songs.
I don’t get why people make fun of him so much. He’s amazing. Maybe his style was a little goofy? Looks like someone’s dad doing karaoke?
bass player has the bass up around his nipples — that’s how you KNOW he’s good
His live performance sounded just as good as his recorded track. This is not always the case. I sure do love his songs.
Phil Collins looks a bit like Steve Jobs with a slightly shorter and wider head.
People said I’d never get over my obsession with Phil Collins.
But take a look at me now.
It’s crazy to think that Phil and Peter Gabriel, the two best pop songwriters of their generation, were in a band together and couldn’t make it work.
This song reminds me of my mom who I lost years ago she’ll always be in my heart too
Last week Phil collins randomly liked a tweet that I responded to one of his tweets from 2019 lol.
So mad I wasn’t alive earlier to appreciate Phil Collins during his rise. Also cheaper housing market
