probably the best sim city, not only was the game actually good, but when you eventually did get bored with it, you could port your cities into sim copter (streets of sim city too, but nobody played that)
if i recall you could port small blank cities from sim city 3 or 4 into the sims 2 as a town
Such a banger of a game! I loved it as a kid (and a adult). The maxis SIM series was just so damn good. Blew my mind when I got introduced to Simcopter and learned you could upload your sim 2000 cities into Simcopter and fly around the stuff you built. I haven’t seen 2 games enhancing each other in such an unique way since.
I got this for my birthday but our hone computer couldn’t run it. The graphics were too advanced. So I uploaded it to 4 of the school computers one lunch time. Thanks to Mr B. He was a cool teacher who liked to game too. I wonder what he does now
As a pre-teen kid, truly one of my greatest achievements was starting a game on hard with the loan and ending up with a flourishing city. I knew I understood the game at the point. No other sim city afterwards entertained or captivated me as much as this one. Not saying this was the best iteration at all, just that it was the one that ended up being the most special. Maybe someday soon Iโll get to properly check out 3000 or 4.
Amazing that they thought we would see UFOs in the year 2000. How silly!
They should have anticipated that the government would hide the UFOs from us as they secretly used the technology to create mind-control vaccines and 5G brain reprogramming wave machines so we would all be subservient sheep-beings to do their evil bidding and let them continue drinking the blood of recently deflowered children.
When I was in 6th grade, I went with a school friend’s family up to their cabin. They had an SNES with Sim City 1. I hadn’t ever seen Sim City before, and I found it to be positively enthralling.
Fast forward a few years later, and my family got our first computer, and it came with Windows 3.1 (shortly before Win 95 launched) and I got Sim City 2000. Oh that joy I had with that game! I loved zooming in to look at all the details, watching the city as it advances. I think I love small cities due to micro machines from my childhood. I had this micromachine play set that was a tool box that unfolded into a little city complete with a golden gate looking bridge. I guarentee playing Sim City felt like playing with that little tool box city and imaging stuff going on on the docks, or in down town. Good memories!
Huge fan, thanks for the good memories! I’m glad that Cities: Skylines can scratch this issue since Maxis is just a husk of it’s former self.
I had so much fun playing Sim City but was disappointed with their last version. I have been playing Cities skylines now for quite some time and it’s pretty much all I play..๐
God I was just thinking about sim copter yesterday, man I wish Maxis would revisit a new chapter of sim city ๐ and sim copter. They gotta be doing really well with the sims.
Fond memories of games like this. Canโt believe it has been 30 years. ๐
I remember playing this when I was really little on my grandmas computer. Good times.
I had enormous fun destroying the town with meteor showers and Godzilla.
I remember seeing this SNES game on the shelves at Funcoland and Walmart. Can’t believe it’s been that long.
Ah yes before EA happened

Still ay this masterpiece!

Played the hell out of this game. I remember getting any magazine before it came out with any info on it. Loved it.
Reticulating Splines
Sim Tower… I miss it, must pray for remake.
Porntipsguzzardo still tattooed in my brain.

Tried to play it earlier. It’s not aged well.
Preferred 3000 tbh, though that’s not available on gamepass.
Have installed SimCity (latest one) will see how that goes.

I can still hear the music! (Played the Mac version on an LC II)
Still the best one

that box art gets hits my nostalgia every time
Shit man, remember when people were aspirational for the future… The 90s were a wild time.
Rarely has there been a bigger gap between the excitement of a box art and the reality of a game.
The Arcologys were so cool and fun, but of course I had to play with disasters off.

Put many hours into this on my 386.
