Any serious gamer should be doing this. It’s not just a “tick”, either.
Saves can get corrupted. And in some games you might REALLY want to rewind time a few hours to make a different choice which can alter the entire game experience. So it’s always a good idea to make multiple manual saves in different slots.
Modern day auto-saves have gotten pretty good in many games. With several different saves being made, so you can roll back quite a bit. But still, manual hard saves are valuable.
I like auto save, but it may save at a time I don’t want. And always two saves. I like rpg games, and having a corrupted save wipe out all my time spent is terrible. Bonus point for having 1 extra save from a few hours before to really protect yourself from possible game breaking bugs.
Some auto save systems are shit. Some are pretty good. If I find out the autosave system is bad, I’ll save manually often, it really depends on the game, but in every game if I do something huge I’ll manual save.
Lol, my “auto save” games don’t have “manual save”. So I just pass through a point I know the auto save will happen. And then I turn around and pass the point again. Some times if I’m feeling really paranoid, I’ll pass through the point 5 or 6 times, quit, load. Just to make sure one of those saves actually worked right.
Once or twice?!?? Mfker i have a save for every part, chapter, every 5 levels, if I’m about to do some dumb shit, and just cause I felt the cold gaze of death upon me that one time. It’s a damn library up in here!
This me with the new pokemon games. I’ve fallen asleep so many times as a kid while playing Pokemon and had my Gameboy or Ds dead in the morning. So much progress lost.
Personally I cycle save, so like make five and overwrite the oldest whenever I do cause you never know when you’re gonna get soft locked by a glitch or some nonsense
Saving at least twice because i don’t trust the save mechanic
i do that too.
If I don’t save 3 times my brain screams at my for 15 mins after I get off the game

Certain games I save constantly but other games I could give two shits.
Back when I was a kid playing doom and doom 2 I would manual save like 15 times just in case.
Me playing Fallout and Skyrim

Any gamer know to never trust autosave or the first save
Any time I close out I save just to be sure but twice is just silly unless I get distracted n don’t remember if i hit the save button

F5 F8 ftw
Or manually saving more than thirty times, and *really* not trusting the autosave…or manual save…or…anything…
It’s a tale as old as time. Everyone does that. Those who don’t are playing with fire.
Autosave is for “Oh Shit” recovery. Manual save is for the saves that matter.

Very accurate, can’t trust technology lmao
Always, never trust auto-save.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone NOT manually save?
Also have more than one save for a playthrough. Save before you enter an area or boss battle.
In most open world RPG’s I run a 5 save slot with rotation… autosave has screwed me too many times
You never know

I do 2 or more because of skyrim on 360 corruption of a save and my last save was over 10 hours prior….

Been saving 2 or 3 times in a row in Pokémon my entire life, man.

saving twice is for amateurs. I save thrice. 🧐
I’m a visual novel/otome/dating sim player and am very guilt of saving before making decisions so I can fix it if I fuck up.
(Every pokemon player when catches shiny) i need save at least 5 times.
