More Snow than the SAG Award show after party!
I’ll see myself out…
Nice.
Let’s get some burgers on that grill!
How long does that take to melt?
Don’t let the roof cave in
Is this recent? I saw a month or so ago Mammoth ski resort closed because they had too much snow.
I have so many questions about day-to-day life when you get this kind of snow. Do you have to keep shoveling regularly while it snows so you don’t have to tunnel out? Do you have to clear the roof? How long does it take before everyone can drive to go to work/school/grocery shopping… a few days? A week? Do you use snow mobiles instead of cars until it can all get cleared, and do you keep them in sheds on stilts or something?
I just can’t fathom dealing with that much snow!
Mr. Torrance, you have a job to do
Yeah… I’m going back inside
No big deal, this will be gone by August.
Let’s fill those reservoirs!
Stares jealously in Floridian
I bought some weed there once.
Donner, party of 87…. Paging Donner party of 87….
Have you tried moving somewhere warm? Like California?
Hot Cocoa, a blanket, and a show to binge watch. That’s paradise. I’m jealous.
Like everything else in life. There are those that enjoy this type of weather and those that loath it. You adapt and learn to survive or you move back to more metropolitan areas that have the infrastructure to deal with this. Buffalo New York gets weather like this occasionally and people still enjoy living in those environs.
A great snow blower, a good snowmobile and lots of cold outerwear, a good supply of firewood and a great wood stove make a huge difference to those that enjoy solitude imposed by weather conditions such as these.
Manager: “You’re still coming in right?”
my cabin off hwy 50 has about 8ft right now;
I really need to get up there and make sure the snow hasnt broken through any windows; I was not expecting this much this year.
Problem is, i have to snow shoe in about 1/2mi since they dont plow; Also cant park in the cal trans lot during storms; so i have to wait for a weekend when its actually not snowing 🙁
I lived there in staff housing for the mtn. We used to open our first story windows and dig out little beer fridges for every room of the house.
I miss those days
This is what the Donner party had to deal with. Amazing any of them survived.

And there’s a lot more snow coming this week
Is that total snow, or 10 ft of new accumulation snow from a recent storm?
Was there in June 2017 after nearly 30’ of snow had melted off. Saw a massive berm of snow out in the middle of a field on the way in from the airport. A bartender who stayed through the winter told me the city ran out of places to put the snow, so a land owner offered his field for a flat fee. The city declined the flat fee, thinking the snow was done for the season, and instead opted for a per-truckload fee. 20 more feet fell. The field owner made bank.
