Apparently the design existed prior to Blue’s Clues, but Nick loved the design and bought the rights from the furniture company.

We bought one for my son. It’s still in his old room
The thinking chair was a mass-produced piece of furniture purchased at Lee’s Studio on Broadway and 56th street in NYC.
