I for one was absolutely over the moon when I saw Metroid prime was remastered was released, never bought a game so quick!
Wow! A marketing team trying to hype up and convince people to buy their product? I, for one, am outraged!
If you hate wasting money.. just.. don’t buy it? Or just get it on sale. It’s not that serious.
It’s a product, if you don’t like it don’t buy it. I don’t know why people take things like this so serious, not every product is made for you and that’s okay
I feel like there’s way too many people who don’t understand the difference between a remaster and a remake. I don’t think the last of us needed a remake, but it’s not the same as a remaster.
Nostalgia kicked in and I’m already over 50% on Metroid after this weekend. What a great game. It looks and plays exactly as I had in my memory.
Big difference here is, The Last of Us is currently on sale, and will be on for even deeper discounts in the future, and inevitably free on PS+.
Metroid Prime will be $40 *forever*
Then why buy it if you’re just going to complain about wasting money?

Before starting to compare two totally different games you should start by learning the difference between a REMASTER and a REMAKE. I too don’t agree with the 70$ price tag but this comparison is just ridiculous, made to start another dumb console war for free karma.

The Last of Us was remade to coincide with the HBO show as part of Sony’s larger strategy to cross over game with film and TV. They anticipated a renewed interest in TLOU and rather than sell the PS4 remaster of a 10 year old game they made a decision to make a new one that was built for their latest console. Since the show aired sales of the remake shot up nearly 300%.
Also, lets not kid ourselves, they went fucking hard on TLOU graphical overhaul. Like it’s insane how beautiful the game is and how good the character models look. Also, and i’ll probs be downvoted for this take, but for games today, I don’t think 70 is THAT unreasonable.
This also completely ignores all the accessibility options they added in the Last of Us remake

I didn’t get any vibes about Last of Us Remake being “the second coming of Christ.” I think the team was just proud of what they did on it.
$70 is obviously too expensive for anyone who’s already played it. Think it was more for newcomers.

TLoU Part 1 definitely >DID< need that remake. Have you looked at the game? It’s so much more beautiful and now fully in-line with the graphics and gameplay of Part 2.
If you want to argue something, the remaster for the PS4 was kinda useless. The graphical jumps weren’t big and the gameplay was left untouched afaik. And it came out very shortly after the release of the original game on PS3, since that one happened around the end of the console generation anyways.

This is an incredibly dumb take. The upgrade that is Part I is a massive improvement and will keep the game relevant into future gens without looking dated.
And once again, if you don’t want it – don’t fucking buy it. Jesus.

There’s a vast difference between the amount of work that went into these 2 remakes. It’s not a fair comparison.
