More car manufacturers need to figure out a way to prevent this from happening. I drive a 10 yo Ford Edge, never a problem until this past year put $5k to fix. Now, catalytic converter needs to be replaced. Because Ford makes them impossible to steal, we were quoted $4k to replace. As we got this information, a service guy walked in telling everyone he went to get a car on the lot to fix and apparently the catalytic converter was stolen, and a hole in the fence was discovered. Don’t know if it’s worth it to fix if one will get stolen from a new car.
That sort of ‘prevention’ is amazing dangerous. That wire is really strong. One wayward stick or a high manhole cover could catch that cable and rip out the entire system or just rip out a few dozen feet of barbed wire all over the road at 60 MPH.
If someone is going to go through that much effort, just use epoxy and some steel plating, or some well fitted steel strapping and bolts in the frame.
Sooo… someone stole a Catalytic Converter from my car recently. I wasn’t that pissed because it was a super old car, I was trying to drive it into the ground. So it was kind of a sign for me to move on. I was going to junk it for like 200 since now I couldn’t sell it, but then my uncle told me that my insurance should cover it. I called the insurance to get the converter replaced, and they said that my deductible would be like 1k. (Their authorized Mechanic wanted like 3 k+ to put a used one it). I told my insurance it would be a waste of money to put into this car. So they asked me if I wanted to just total my car, and I agreed. Unexpectedly, they offered me so much for that car, I ended up writing a damn thank you letter to the thief and posted it on every pole around our neighborhood lol . So for anyone who finds themselves in this predicament, don’t forget to check in with your insurance.
Yep. That will do it
Great idea until something gets caught and catches fire.
Wait until it gets snagged on something and rips off something from under your car.
Is barb wire stronger than whatever holds in the converter
can’t we just all agree on medieval punishments for that specific theft?
Lol. Looks like Jigsaw is your mechanic.
Is it hooked up to the battery
That is going to make a lot of noise
Claymore: THIS SIDE TOWARD ENEMY
Plus a spark shooter.
Also a roadkill accumulator.
You spelled plastic bag igniter wrong.
Whoever is buying these cats used is feeding this problem.
I wish there were something that could instantly kill anyone who tries this. Would solve multiple problems at once for society.
Motion detector spark plug flamethrowers. If you can think it, it can be done.
I’m not 100% against the old muslim tradition of cutting off a thiefs hand.
its funny cuz now you don’t have to pay $1700 to replace your convertor
What could go wrong…
not funny when yours gets stolen
It also works as a catalytic converter remover if your drive over something it gets caught on
Dude took a picture right before cutting around the wire and taking that shit off
Why you under the car tho?!🤨
Plastic bag collector
So you’re not allowed to set up a booby-trap in your house to stop thieves. I wonder if this is legal.
You could still cut that shit right out tho

No prevention here, they are using angle grinders
More likely you’ll puncture your rear wheel
Can’t set a trap….
They need to have cats run in the pipe that comes down from the block.
Ain’t stupid if it works
OMG. Can you imagine the shit that would be shat if people started stealing barbed wire?

I had mine stolen off my car two days before Christmas and it took a month to get it replaced. Fuck everyone who steals these.
*I WANT TO PLAY A GAME*
You think I’m going in there barehanded?
Son, I got work gloves on. Barb wire ain’t shit to my grinder and some gloves.
