I lived BTW 69th st and Columbus Ave NYC during that night. Everyone is my building came out on to the stoop once the power was shut off. It was an incredibly hot day and night. Everyone who came out brought a bottle of booze with them and we all had a wonderful time. When night came, the environment became so surreal. You could only see headlights form cars and trucks going uptown. There were countless people jammed on the back of flat bed trucks trying to get home. But we, on our stoop, had a wonderfully odd drunken surreal time.
