Actually, judging from the markings on your mother’s uniform (particularly the sleeve insignia), she was actually a WAF of the US Air Force. The Air Force women were originally part of the WACs during World War II, but then split off when the Air Force became separate from the Army in the late 40s. Both the WACs and the WAFs served in the tens of thousands during the Korean War (from the date, seems she would be one of them). Truly amazing photo!
